If standing up to an imaginary foe 7 times larger than you is your only achievement , then you've answered your own statement .

I was brought up to believe that nation building was a much more holistic project than what you've reduced it to be .

Then again , that probably explains why we are like this & we are where we are & you are what you are & where you are .

No worries at all. Pakistan's already nuclear stockpile is sufficient to keep India in check where as NK's nuclear weapons will suffice for Japan. BTW this makes Japan look nothing less than a full blown hypocrite state........Beating drums around the world about "Nuclear arms are bad, we are the victims" and then directly aiding their production in an other country under false pretenses.

Japan is a developed nation but it is a slave of USA as far as military and foreign policies are concerned. However this country of olds is already past its prime and receding into oblivion faster than one can imagine.
While China is the rising power and has superior nuclear technology and that's why UK selected China to build its next gen nuclear power plants.

Japan is facing a difficult time with its nuclear energy sector. Post-Fukushima, only 2 of its remaining 48 reactors are operational. They are literally bleeding billions of dollars every month and nuclear energy is unlikely to regain its position in the energy sector in Japan. Therefore it makes business sense to export all the know-how they have in this area.

As for Pakistan crying foul, India does not need to do anything to highlight Pakistan's proliferation history. AQ Khan has done all that was needed.

GoP yet not able to reconcile that Nuclear energy is cheapest and most non-polluting source of energy... While corrupt leaders are installing coal fired electricity plants under CPEC, (with chinese employees and revenue going to chinese, 27% annual return would result into such expensive electricity that average Pakistan citizens/corporate can't afford, still calling it Game changer. I am not counting the immense pollution caused as a result. In India, For eg. at Kundanlkulam nuclear power plant, 4 Russian reactors with capacity of 4000 MW is producing electricity at less than Rs 5/unit (That's too after 10 yrs delay and cost overruns, it could be below Rs 3 if implemented on time). India with fastest growing economy, her appetite for energy is shooting up like anything which has to be cheap & non-polluting electricity. Reason for recent nuclear agreements is as visible as one can get, if Pakistani media/govt/intelligence agencies are manipulating the propaganda, it's strictly for local consumption that holds no international ground.

Our nuclear co-operation is not for keeping anyone in check, but just to bring electricity to millions of people in India.

We are not concerned about Indian intentions here. It's the Japenese duplicity we are pointing too. Can you deny that the extra resources provided by Japan wont relieve the pressure off Indian existing nuclear resources to be diverted to military program? You can't!!!! And we all know that including the Japs.

Japan remains an insignificant global player all attributed to it's poor foreign policy. Instead of trying to antagonize China it should move to sorting it's issues with China, will be beneficial for them both and the region. Look at Philippines and Malaysia the reason they are warming upto China is all because they see that China is the Asian future leader and not the US.

We still need to provide reliable power to more than 300 million people in the country, almost a chunk bigger than the size of US population. Nuclear powerplants will help us provide this power faster bringing development to the nation, and with added focus to solar power plants, we will be able to supplant green energy for coal powered plants in the next two decades provided we have good leadership to tackle climate change.

While i dont disagree with your narrative, thing is there are two perspectives at play and they both are equally irrefutable. While you are mentioning the first one as its sets base for this entire cooperation procedure the second one which Pakistan is highlighting cannot be ignored. If civil nuclear cooperation is the concern here then Pakistan too is facing an acute energy deficit and should be served with similar deals, however we dont see that happening with the exception of China of course.However the civil nuclear cooperation represents one side of the picture and its flip side has implications far beyond the simplicity of "civil" notion..........The proliferation of Nuclear info all the way from Nazi Germany to US and then to UK, France, Israel and Russia illustrates the covert nature and the complexities of the nuclear dealings, i guess what i am trying to say is: Mere explanatory statements are not sufficient, if they were, no body would have been pointing fingers at Pakistan and China for their alleged military nuclear relations.
