It's such a shame that Pakistan has been slow in developing wind turbines especially considering that a turbine essentially takes a month from nothing to energy production, and the fact that the investment is recovered in something like three years. We need more such projects, and fast, given we have a generation potential of 50,000 MW from wind alone.

22 Wind Power Projects Planned | Today in Pakistan

That is a great news. I have a friend with doctorate in wind energy working in EU, he can help Pakistan by offering his services.

.
indeed wind is a great way given your shoreline.

This is a right decision and certainly much better than that foolish decision of solar power plant. I would say Pakistan is on right path.

. .
Survey revealed an estimated 50,000 MW potential in Wind Corridor of Sindh and Balochistan. Operating cost is minimal, insignificant environmental effect, no fuel required, no batteries to change. I don't know what's holding us back from wind energy (actually I do). Entire Pakistan can be powered by wind turbines and still we could export some.

Might be funds issue ? what is installation cost ?

Yea wind farms are awesome there are two installed for testing purposes in my college

Cost is same as of solar which means significantly high initial cost. However subsequent cost is just peanuts. Hydel and Wind are amongst cheapest to run as there is no fuel required and maintenance is minimal. This is where the problem lies for Pakistan. If there is no oil and LNG to be imported how the cartels of politicians make their money? Solar batteries is a recurring cost so money can be made. That is why they went for solar park and not wind parks. This is also why they don't make dams for hydro power generation.

They can outsource this to private companies, But as you mentioned above ... Politician cartels su*ks

Yes they do. More so we also keep voting them in. Anyways here is the map of Pakistan’s wind potential.

And here is a comparison of energy production cost. With the country blessed with hydal and wind potential, judge for your self why the heck did we go for solar, oil, gas and even nuclear powered plants?!

50k wind and 50k hydel along with neuclear power can change the destiny of Pakistan power generation sector. planing commission and water and power ministry should consider this asap.

Nuclear is not a good option. We do it because of our nuclear program. Coal is the answer for Pakistan. Hydal (150,000 MW potential), Wind (50,000 MW potential) and coal (200,000 MW for 200 years potential). No need to import any fuel for any of this. Pakistan doesn't need to look any further than this.
