Pakistan Navy Plan to Buy Four more F22 P Frigates

By buy does it mean that Pakistan will pay to build them in Pakistan or does it mean buying them built and bought from China? Pakistan already has already built this ship before.

F-22P Frigate is laced with modern missile technology.

The F-22P’s hull contains China’s type 054 frigate’s radar cross-section reduction, which helps prevent detection by radars mounted on other ships, aircraft and anti-ship missiles.

The F-22P’s also carries Echo Type 5 hull-mounted active search and track sonar

They're nice ships, but as @Horus pointed out, they do lack some more modern features such as

That's the VLS on a PLAN Type 054A, probably housing HQ-16 missiles.

The F-22P is using the older box launcher system, which is less flexible and more restrictive in terms of payload type. Good luck putting land-attack missiles in that launcher. These types of systems are also large, and have less payload capacity per given space.

@Horus is right, a VLS would be a massive upgrade for the F-22P, but along with that upgrade needs to come a radar package too, to ensure long-range targeting is a viable option.

We need credible AAW capability for our navy. F22s are proving to be good boats, we need VLS on them and produce them in numbers. Its time we phase out our Amazon class boats.

China Shipbuilding Trading Corporation (CSTC) secured an order from the Pakistan navy for four warships. These are thought to be improved variants of the F-22P Zulfiquar class frigates, four of which have already been built for the navy, (three in China and one in Karachi).

According to a spokesman for Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works, the Pakistan navy recommended a large number of modifications for the follow on batch of frigates, and these modifications have been accepted by the Chinese designers.

A spokesman for CSTC was unable to say if the eight FM-90 SAMs (Crotale copy) would be replaced by a larger number of more capable missiles housed in a VLS however. The SAM armament of the current F-22P class frigates is a noted shortcoming of the design.

look more like a smoking sheesha and navy coming out with smoke

If the news is correct the next batch of F22P will be more sophisticated than the last batch. After evaluating the current batch of F22P in service the navy would want improvements in firepower, avionics and sensors and safety. These discussions for 4 additional FFGS have been ongoing for some time now and a contract could be imminent.

The list is beyond its budget allocations

Submarines would have been a better option instead of frigates. No?
