Pakistan likely to secure civil nuclear deal with US: report

Civil nuclear deal can help with the energy crisis and hence strengthen the weak economy. Which is more important for defense then nuclear weapons. Infact weak economy is the reason why Pakistan likes to threaten nuke strikes as it has debilitated Pakistan's fighting capacity.

.
Well chinese are busy building 5 new civil nuclear reactors, and i m sure they will build more if need b...
And only people who dont like pakistans frequent nuclear threats are those who are actually being threatened...

So there is absolutely no need for this disasterous and stupid agreement

In other words it is absolutely necessary for our national security to maintain a capability to nuke who ever we want and when ever we feel like doing so

.
Americans have no say over our nuclear weapons program and more so since they have now decided to arm India to the teeth, they cant really expect that Pakistan will cap its missile nuclear program just because US can get a waiver for us from the nuclear suppliers group. Aint going to happen.

Besides China has offered similar deal to Pakistan, that leaves US with nothing as leverage. US can continue with its honeymoon with the Indians.

.
The agreement, if signed, would be for reducing the range of Intercontinental missiles, if any. I don't think we have a problem with that. 2500KM missiles cover most of India/Afghanistan/Iran so that shouldn't be a problem.

If we can get US Civil nuclear technology that would be fine. However, considering that we have been operating civilian reactors for over 50 years safely, is a testament to the fact that Pakistan is a responsible country in this arena. Any nuclear reactor we want, we can have it from China. So i don't see what the US-Deal would actually bring.

But if it goes through, then another one of 'Indian mighty superpower got US Civil Nuclear deal' bullshyt out the door.

We don't need this deal when we already have a similar agreement in effect with China. US can keep its "brackets" in its closet. We are a sovereign country & if we need a missile to hit mars, we have every right to build one. @Hyperion

Read the article once again and note down the fine details.

1. They want us to cap and rollback our missile program. (We will become bitches of MTCR)
2. They want us to ratify FMCT (Never going to happen)

There is nothing which is even remotely similar to Indian deal. The one they are proposing wants us to cut off our balls and eat them too.
Nuclear deal will only happen with the same terms what India has with US...
Better to deal with Russia....

Dr Samar Mubarak Mand once said that US & other Westerners are eyeing on Indian foreign reserves. Thats why they are offered with advanced technology. Civil Nuclear Deal between India & America is also an American move to get back dollars from India. Pakistan nuclear program is effective and we already have a 2040 plan in action regarding Nuclear Energy.

.
I don't know if someone already said but if sign any agreement like this one, we will be cursed for centuries.

Why ? Because if we signed it, we will have to do what we signed but the expected civilian technology will be so expensive that we never will be able to buy it....

Ppl of Pakistan and military won't accept it same deal India what India got so far ?nothing

Curbs on nuclear programme ruled out

ISLAMABAD: A senior Pakistani official on Wednesday dismissed speculation that Islamabad could agree to put certain limits on its nuclear weapons programme in return for a civil nuclear energy deal with Washington.
“We will not compromise our nuclear programme… we are seeking civilian nuclear technology but that does not mean we will accept any restrictions on our nuclear weapons programme,” the official, who is familiar with Pakistan’s talks on nuclear issues, told The Express Tribune on the condition of anonymity.
In an opinion piece published by The Washington Post, US journalist David Ignatius claimed that Washington is exploring possible new limits and controls on Pakistan’s nuclear weapons and delivery systems. Such an accord, he wrote, may eventually open a path toward a Pakistani version of the civil nuclear deal that was launched with India in 2015.
He further claimed that a source familiar with the talks said Pakistan had been asked to consider what were described as ‘brackets’. “Pakistan would agree to restrict its nuclear programme to weapons and delivery systems that are appropriate to its actual defense needs against India’s nuclear threat. Pakistan might agree not to deploy missiles capable of reaching beyond a certain range, for example,” Ignatius said.
The foreign office, however, in an official reaction to The Washington Post article would not say if Pakistan was offered a conditional nuclear deal by the US. “As a responsible nuclear state Pakistan remains actively engaged with the international community, including the United States, on nuclear stability and security issues,” said the foreign office spokesperson on Wednesday.
Without referring to the conditions mentioned in the Washington Post piece, he said Pakistan’s nuclear policy was shaped by evolving security dynamics of South Asia, growing conventional asymmetry, provocative doctrines and aggressive posturing by India.
This situation, the spokesperson said, obliges Pakistan to take all necessary measures to maintain a full spectrum deterrence capability in order to safeguard our national security, maintain strategic stability and deter any kind of aggression from India.
“Pakistan seeks peace and strategic stability in South Asia as a cornerstone of its policy and considers conflict resolution as a means to achieve this end. This policy has been reiterated by Pakistan’s highest decision-making body, the National Command Authority (NCA), chaired by the Prime Minister, in its meeting on September 9, 2015,” he said.
