those who are commenting negatively first need to answer that ceasefire violations started from our side .... ??

After Galwan incident who was in more need of ceasefire at LOC ..... ?

Who just 2 year back was planning to attack and capture AJK & NA of Pakistan ..... ??

Who in his parliament gave official statement about the Aks-e-Chin and Gilgigt Baltistan anf AJK ....???

Who used to claim about 56 inch *** .... ???

or Claim about infiltration as the basic reason for ceasefire violations from their side ..... ????

Some people just don't have self respect and ready to curse their ownseleves at the blink of eye without even thinking for a second .... ???

So these type of people need to just shut the **** up and wait for new round of exchange may be within a month ....

India has lost dozens of soldiers under 56 inch modi as PM at LOC in cross border firing. This doesn't include deaths due to encounters with freedom fighters at LOC

I don't have the exact figures but one thing I can assure that more Indian soldiers have died at LOC under Modi than "soft PM" man mohan singh

Only thing is modi is good at hiding it and selling his "tough image" but deep down both Modi and Indian army might have realized that their strategy to pressurize Pakistan at LOC didn't work well and as per expectations and hence this new ceasefire

Anyways. Lets see for how many days this "ceasefire" would continue

Pakistan taking decisive action would trigger war, that wouldn't happen.
The disengagement is at the point of contention, but the pressure is still there in the East, hence India still maintaining and building up its presence.
Internal i.e. farmer protests.

Then its war .Whats the issue ?
You can defeat India when east is ' pressurized'.
Right?
Sounds good
But not at all.

What India is doing now for the Chinese to pressurise the area they captured through salami slicing through decades like in depsang .
Believe it or not .The area they captured last year is already free and no man zone
Chinese are very good in their games.
This was just their another game like Doklam but unlike Doklam this was spread in to other areas .
Now the sanction in their products still remain and removal of the same will depend on their cooperation with us.Decoupling will take time since they are biggest manufacturers .But the course is on that direction .

Farmer protests?
Its just another grand political drama in India.
Infact entire India including Govt supports the farmers and their protest .
And just another political play of Capt Amrinder Singh.Singh,Badal and entire Congress support these bills actually .
But they dont have the guts to implement that ,so Capt just diverted the issue for PM Modi .
And PM Modi and his team beautifully handled it and Capt reaped the political benefits .
Now its just the Capt and his Congress in Punjab .But BJP dont have any problem because there is not much BJP reach in Punjab.

And its just only concentrated in Punjab region only.
Out here in South,West,NE or East there is not much issue .
After all protests are the life of democracy

Its Pakistan accepting the reality of the situation and making the best of it in terms of a mutual stand-down.

We understand that there is nothing binding or permanent about it.

But coming soon on the heels of their last military hope of taking Kashmir fading away on the cold rocky terrain of Ladakh, its pretty clear that hard headed pragmatism is at play here.

The clamor within Pakistan for action on Kashmir is not our concern.

Cheers, Doc

It seems you are right .
They were waiting for the result of our stand in LAC and Chinese didnt have much choice but stand down.

I agree with the sentiment that the dhoti walas are up to something.

This interaction between both DG MOs is just normal.... Nothing new, moreover, both countries always officially try to implement a ceasefire along LOC, but this specific interaction doesn't mean that we'll not reply back if status of LOC is violated by any means.... This interaction also doesn't mean that we have given up on our claims as far as Kashmir occupation is concerned... Nor has India given up yet claims....

... This interaction also isn't meant to give India a breathing space as far their situation in Ladakh is concerned....

Our claims stand where they were....

... On a lighter note, this could also mean that both nations intend to celebrate 26 and 27 Feb PEACEFULLY....

Of course, this doesn't void any political stances of either side, however it is very peculiar given the framing of each side's narrative.

We, primarily IK has been very aggressively pursuing the agenda of attempting to get UN resolutions enforced and labelling the Modi admin as fascists, nazi etc. and that he has given PA a free hand to protect the populace on the LOC. On the other hand, Modi and his entire BJP top brass has said they'll take AJK by force. This represents a climbdown of sorts by both parties. What has precipitated this, I don't know - could be the situation on the ground, geopolitical or regional developments etc (Biden as new US president, China Ladakh disengagement as 2 recent examples).

Also, the last few years, since the farcical strike #1 have been very tense and since Feb 2019, there are CFVs every few hours in several sectors, so something has give for this backroom diplomacy to have worked. Would this coincide at all with your "quid pro quo plus" thread?

Under Modi, whatever action India takes is for domestic politics or for the benefit of Ambani and Adani.

I suspect that the LOC CFVs were not helping in improving his strongman image, so they had to end. I fully expect this to be spun as a victory against China and Pakistan. Of course, his minions on this forum are already doing the same.

I didn't sanction this. I woke up late today

This happened during the dead of the night. The con of man in the dark who negotiated with the Nazis will be brought to daylight.

Pakistan and India have agreed to the strict observance of all agreements, understandings and ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) and all other sectors, with effect from Wednesday midnight.

“In the interest of achieving mutually beneficial and sustainable peace along the borders, the two Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) agreed to address each other’s core issues and concerns which have propensity to disturb peace and lead to violence,” a joint statement said, referring to the military operations heads of the two countries.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the DGMOs of the two countries held discussions over the established mechanism of hotline contact.

The two sides reviewed the situation along the Line of Control (LoC) and all other sectors in a free, frank and cordial atmosphere, Radio Pakistan reported.

They reiterated that existing mechanisms of hotline contact and border flag meetings will be utilised to resolve any unforeseen situation or misunderstanding.

Military spokesman Maj Gen Babar Iftikhar, in comments on private TV channels, said: "There has been contact between India and Pakistan on a hotline level since 1987. Frequently, the DGMOs of both countries stay in contact through this established mechanism."

He said that from 2014 there was a spike in ceasefire violations along the LoC. "Both the DGMOs have agreed that the existing 2003 understanding should be implemented in letter and spirit."

Both officials have agreed on making it sustainable and have expressed the intention to act on it, he said. He added that there have been more than 13,500 ceasefire violations since 2003 which have claimed the lives of 310 citizens and injured 1,600.

He said that there is a great difference in the number ceasefire violations and casualties between 2003-2013 and after 2014.
"Ninety two per cent of the figures shared occurred between 2014 and 2021," he said, adding that 49 women and 26 children have been martyred in the last four years.

He said that the year 2019 witnessed the most ceasefire violations while 2018 had the most casualties. "After the understanding between the two countries, it has been agreed to implement the 2003 ceasefire in letter and spirit," he said.

33 civilians martyred, 260 injured by Indian shelling in AJK in 2020

Indian troops committed more than 2,900 ceasefire violations across the LoC in 2020, leaving as many as 33 innocent civilians martyred and another 260 wounded in different parts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

“Even though the whole world was hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, [the] Indian army did not discontinue its ghastly practice of pounding our unarmed civilian populations along the dividing line,” Chaudhry Tariq Farooq, AJK’s senior minister for physical planning and housing, had said on the first day of the new year.

“Not only the civilians, they also targeted the UN military observers in this year while they were on a routine monitoring mission along the LoC,'' the minister had said, referring to the Dec 18 shooting at a UN vehicle in Poonch district.

Sharing details of the physical and material losses with Dawn, he had said 16 men and 17 women were martyred. The injured meanwhile numbered 260, with 161 men and 99 women injured.

The youngest martyr was two-year-old Adeeb Sudhir of Neelum valley and the oldest martyrs were Jan Begum of district Bhimber and Muhammad Bashir of district Haveli, both over 75 years of age, he had said.

That is true. You got it exactly right

India has lost more soldiers in 7 years of "tough 56 inch" Modi at LOC than 10 years of "soft and weak" Man Mohan

It was getting difficult for Modi to maintain his image of "strongman" with soldiers dying in record numbers at LOC and even at LAC

General Bipin Rawat might have told his boss that LOC is no Gujarat of 2002

Modi media would obviously sell this as victory and hence would preserve his image of a strongman in front of masses in India

What the hell are we supposed to do to keep this up?

Go to Dhaka for joint Bangladesh Day together?

Daska ka lollipop dekar Modi se chuma chaati.

ye konsi hikmat hai?

Good for everyone. And people thinking "bye bye Kashimir", go look up difference between tactical and strategic objectives. Stopping boom boom at the border doesn't mean any change in stance.
