Pakistan has great potential to grow in near term: US

Your missing the point. Call me simpleton but in my life I expect correlation between love, solid friends and casual acquaintances. Meaning I expect more out of those close to me and gradually less as you move away from my circle.

Keeping this in mind it irritates me that KSA/GCC which our people regard as saviours of Pakistan and brothers in faith end up giving their markets and employments to our nemesis India. Which runs contrary to what you expect. The American's who of course get the tag of being 'evil' in Pakistan end being Pakistan's exports customer. If this is the "clear bias" please can we have the same "clear bias" by KSA/GCC toward Pakistan.
No i get the point but what i am trying to say is that we are equally to be blamed for this as well as we never had a government that would actually tell KSA and GCC states that they will have to make a choice otherwise they can good bye to the close military collaboration and Pakistan nuclear shield. Point being we are brought to a point where there is no money to run day to day affairs and we have no option but to either see towards IMF or so called brotherly country. That puts us in rather compromised position and we cannot make demands like the above.
To put is blank KSA and GCC are as much evil as US and they will not spare a moment push you from the train should the need arise, question is how are we protecting our interests?

In Europe Western Europeans have exemplified institutional preferances toward their Eastern European Christian brothers - not by singing the mantra of 'brotherhood' but by actively showing preferance. By extending them EU membership which of course comes with massive grants, trading rights, labour migration rights etc etc

Explains why I see more Poles, and Ukrainians there these days

Yara, you know my mind has been drifting from it when I study more... This indoctrinated stupidity is really away from reality. I'm not saying US is our BFF but things could have been much different if we had saner and cleaner people at the top. Just look at China....read about it...remove your glasses of typical anti-Americanism: the mullah fed BS.. I'm not saying USA is the best but it is the worst guy around...in fact our own selfish traitors are the worst...who have been damaging the inter-state relations for their personal benefits.
Things might have been different however let us not forget how US conveniently supported corrupt and military regimes in Pakistan because they were following the US agenda. Cleaner people like Liaqat Ali Khan when told the US to vacate the Peshawar base, resulted in an Afghan killing him. Bhutto wanted to make Pakistan the financial capital of the Islamic world, told US we will eat grass but make nukes, resulted in US making an example out of him. Zia after passing his useful life for the US also met the same faith. Point being i dont think with the US results would be any different with saner or cleaner people because US all along saw Pakistan as a means towards an end, first against communism, cold war and now against terrorism. If regimes supported US version, they were all hailed, if disagreed they were killed.
This is why i fear for IK's life. He is one of those people who will never tag the US line.

In UK alone we saw more Poles migrate here in 5 years then Pakistani's or Indian's in over 50 years. Literally entire cities almost swamped by Poles. And they did not have to swim across the water, hide under trucks, sail in dingies or jump over fences to get to UK. Being Christian and white skin was their visa. With that they came with respect to the immigration counters at UK airports and were waved in.

All this was supposedly good for UK economy. Meaning the Poles were doing UK a favour. But hey hang on. Forget about Pakistani's. We all know they are all bomb plotting terrorists or sex grooming gangers. But what about Indians. UK could have got Indians to move here with work visas, better qualified, harder working, less criminal, cheaper, speak English and have historical links with the Raj.

Nah. They ain't white Christians are they?

Ps. any chance the Saudi's could show similiar outlook to Pakistan?

Before the Poland and other EE states joined in the 2000s during the 1990s NYC and US you use to get a lot of immigration from Poland,Russia, and the Former Yugoslavia areas in Brooklyn, and Queens use to be filled with those guys mostly working as plumbers or construction.Nowadays its mostly East Asians(Mainland Chinese,Vietneamse,Thai),Central Asians,Bengalis,Indians, and Central Americans. In the 90s you had more Pakistanis but most of them left post 9/11

.
Of course for KSA/GCC to give Pakistan such institutional preferances is asking for too much. Meantime our gullible masses croak "brotherhood".

You might not. But SMQ knows Pakistan needs America. Most of our exports go there. You need to learn from the Chinese.
You need to stop being am arrogant ignorant *** and learn to speka with manners. Otherwise my post to u will be in a language you understand. If you behave like an indian you will be treated like one

I actually was not talking about migration pe se. What I was looking at was the "legally sanction preferantial migration". That is when you create legal mechanisms that are are intened to postively discriminate. There would have been no shortage of qualified Indian applicants to fill the need for pumbers, electricians, builders in UK. What is more the Indian's would speak English. However via the EU and entry given to Poland it gave the Poles legal preferance over others [Indian's etc] to come to UK legally and get jobs. This despite the fact that I know Indian's would be cheaper and work harder.

I would love to see KSA/GCC giving Pakistan such legal or institutional preferance. I can't see that happening. Instead like a master throws a bone to the dog we will see Pakistan being given scrap her or there as 'favours' and our ignorant masses will lap this up as manifestion of 'brotherhood'.

I did an involuntary shudder when I read the bit about "under trucks" ...

I was in Waterloo for some meetings and I saw this bus driver taking a big stick (looked like a stump ....) tipped with something and go around the entire bus and poke that stick into each wheel well while peering into it closely.

I was looking at him curiously and he sees me and grins and shows me what actually is a cricket stump with a pointed metal spike at the end.

I had initially thought it was a tyre pressure gauge probe or something.

Our man explains that this is what the bus and truck drivers have taken to doing to poke around near the wheels for illegals who hide out there on the underside of the buses. If poked the assumption is that they would squeal, and the drivers would get to know in time.

He was headed back to London and said just the previous week they had had to lift a bus up with a crane and cut away the under-surface with gas cutters and give cpr and medical treatment to a bunch of illegals who had gotten trapped there.

Damn sad scene man. Like animals ....

Cheers, Doc

But we are idiots....You love stupid anti-US bravado but the reality is we have lot of dependence of them. And illiterate idiots will come and chant anti-US slogans but they have ignorant fellows have no knowledge how the world works...at best they can get their own country isolated and quarantined as Iran has managed to do so. I wish we had a wise and a balanced approach....not to swing to the extremes...
Then we should not depend on USA or export little to USA. We need to find alternatives to USA.

Pakistan has great potential to grow in near term: US

US has always helped Pakistan to overcome challenges and its stability that is important for region.
Islamabad (Online) - The US Department of Commerce on Thursday recognized Pakistan as an important market with the great potential to grow its economy in the near term.

The US has always helped Pakistan to overcome challenges and its stability that is important for the region, it said.

The Deputy Assistant Secretary for Asia Diane Farrell, Acting Director of Investment Services Helen Hwang, and other officials said this while talking to a delegation led by President FPCCI Ghazanfar Bilour.

They said that trade has become an important tool to forge good relations and they encourage Pakistani investors to explore investment opportunities in the U.S.

US remains the largest export destination for Pakistan and a major source of foreign direct investment while Pakistan remains an attractive market for some US companies due to favorable demographics and a growing middle class, they said.

There are some trade and investment barriers that limit the ability of US companies to enter the market and grow their businesses in Pakistan which should be considered, they added.

The US officials said that the US-Pakistan total trade in goods is up nearly 20 percent since 2013, reaching nearly $6.4 billion in 2017 while US exports to Pakistan are at an all-time high and up some 70 percent over the same period.

The officials of the commerce department welcomed FPCCI to ink agreements with different chambers of commerce and invited Pakistani business community to participate in the “The SelectUSA Investment Summit” from June 10-12, 2019 in Washington D.C., which was accepted.

At the occasion, President FPCCI Ghazanfar Bilour said that US should consider establishing Reconstruction Opportunity Zones (RoZs) in FATA to overcome militancy.

There is a difference between words and actions. The Americans throw oneliners without backing it up.

Nonetheless, as long as our future with Russia, China, Turkey and Iran and other likeminded countries is bright I am all for it.

Now america realises that pakistan doesnt need america they want to be friends. Jog on hillbilly

There is a sudden urge from the American side to engage with Pakistan. There is a reason of course. The US think tanks are realizing that Pakistan is drifting away and relying more on China. No matter how deep the Americans get in bed with their Indian buddies, they cannot afford to let Pakistan slip away.

Pakistan will do well by investing in regional development. The US is not a sincere partner for Pakistan. They have unreal expectations and we cannot deliver on any of them.

Hope our relation improve in future with U.S.A, we should try to increase export , there are many things we can do .
