Pakistan : Geo News Owner Mir Shakeel Sentenced To 26 Years In Prison With Fine

GILGIT: An anti-terrorism court awarded the owner of Jang and GEO Network 26-year imprisonment and fined him Rs. 1.3 million on Tuesday.


The court also awarded 26-year incarcerations each to Shaista lodhi, Veena Malik and her husband Asad Bashir Khatak.

The court also fined them Rs. 1.3 million. It also directed the officials concerned to confiscate the passport and property of Mir Shakeel ur Rehman.

The court sent the arrest warrant for Mir Shakeel ur Rehman to Inspector General (IG) of Islamabad, IG Punjab and IG Sindh.

Geo Television Network was accused of blasphemy after it ran a programme insulting the family of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH).
