Pakistan For All: Suman Pawan Bodani becomes first female judge from the Hindu community

Pakistan has always been criticised for its unfair behaviour towards its minorities, especially Hindus. Country’s minorities have shrunk from a valid 30% to only 3%, showing how the country’s pluralistic society is under serious threat and people belonging to other than the ‘majority’ are being marginalised. In such a time of crisis, it is very important that they are granted their due representation in the state apparatus to make their presence felt.
We have taken some significant initiatives in the past year and especially the past General Elections have set a new pathway. From Ms Tanzeela Qambrani called herself the Nelson Mandela of Pakistan to stunning and resilient Krishna Kumari, a member of the PPP, became the first Hindu woman elected to the Senate and was also included in BBC’s Top 100 Women who influenced the world during the year 2018.
In a first, Pakistan has now appointed the first female judge from Hindu community. Suman Pawan Bodani, the daughter of Dr Pawan Podani, hails from Shahdadkot, Sindh. With her extraordinary record, she stood 54th in the merit list for the appointment of civil judge/judicial magistrate.
The news was posted by Chairman Central Film Censor Board Daniyal Gillani.
