It's good to be nationalistic but that should not blind you to facts. Most here can see while Pak Army march is okay but the Chinese set the gold standard - in dress and march. And if it was not panks like you by next year PA could ne dressed as well and marching as well as PLA. After all it just take month of drill from the Chinese and a new uniform style. Done. Then PA could be as sharply turned out as the best in the world. But with attitude like yours you assure that medocrity rules. It's all about expectations and wanting the best.

And show me one march by PA that can match (below) this - indeed most armies around the world can't match this.

So you're judging a military , who's job is the Defence of the country , by a parade? Some Logic , that's like another version of "first world problems". Here we have a military fighting terrorists , giving their lives and you're dissing them over a parade? I think you should judge them using the thing they're suppose to do , i.e. Fight a war , and then compare them to other armies around the world. As for the parade , I agree that China's is impressive and why wouldn't it be but our clothing style and parade style is from tradition , can't just change it because someone thinks it not impressive. But my main emphasis is on my first point. Still imo Pakistans is just as impressive.

I am not being critical of the men (women) but as you say policymakers. I am big supporter of PA. My family have a long association with the military. So please don't take this wrongly.

However there is nothing wrong with productive criticism. I have three 'gripes' if you can call them that.

(i) Uniforms are a mess. The colour, cut and over all match is failing. They are a dog over legacy of the dated British from 1930s, with a few bit's of South Asian 'kitsch' thrown in as a after thought.

(ii) The march style again is legacy of the British. The Russian/Chinese style is more aggressive. And when done in large formations is impressive.

(iii) Beards are a definite 'no, no'. The march is like a machine. A presentation of the awesome power of a combined organized group. That is what the word uniform means. Individualism is ironed out and becomes subsumed to the whole. Beards break that uniformity - Ideally you even want men that are about same height, same frame.

I think non of this costs much money. There is no reason we can't match Russsia or China on those score. And I love the Rangers (?) uniform on the Wagah border with Black Shalwars Kameez. The Indian's in comparison look like unweildy peacocks.

Precisely. The very same qualties that make Beijing loook more tidier then Lahore for example. Precision and discipline make efficiency which is half of the recipe for success.

North Korean's alway display impressive marches - I think they give Chinese run for their money with the main differance being their display is more austere.

Then all should grow beard if uniformity is the objective. Man , specially solider, looks more menacing with facial hair. Clean shaves, are for the cat walks.

Furthermore i agree with the point regarding getting things "modrenized" from uniform to march style and all. It is just that i do not feel the current one, especially the march style is not bad either.
