NEW DELHI (Web Desk) - Pakistan has barred low-level over-flying by Indian commercial airliners over almost its entire airspace, the Indian media reported on Sunday.

A note to airmen (NOTAM) issued by Pakistani aviation authorities informed that all flights have been prohibited from flying below 29,000 feet in Lahore during the month of October.

Pakistan had earlier barred overflying below 33,000 feet in the Karachi airspace.

After this move, Indian flights will have to opt for longer and safer routes which can delay flights.

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is the only airline that operates between India and Pakistan, but Indian flights to the Gulf, Far East, Middle East and Europe often fly over the neighbouring country.

. . . .
ISI must got aware of some new Indian drama in the making. Good job.

.
May be a MH17 kind of drama to present Pakistan as safe heaven for terrorists. An Indian commercial plane to be hit by a shoulder fired anti aircraft missile.

. . . .
What's so funny about this! like Stinger!

Overflights generally fly more than 20000 feet. Cruise altitude depending upon airline varies btw 25000-35000 feet. No Stinger cant take out any ac at that height.... MH17 was taken down by a SAM.

Do you have any sikh friend? what would they call you, raja or "chola" :haha:

Lol. Rajaraja Chola is a famous king of Tamil Chola Dynasty which dominated South Indian and South East Asian countries for nearly 2 centuries..

Isn't "chola" an abuse in Punjabi?

Why would Indian commercial jetliners be at a lower altitude ? My basic understanding is that within 50-100 miles of take off every commercial jetliner I flew hit 35000 feet

for some reason I thought it was 10,000 feet
you are right

Cholan is Tamil dynasty
If my history is right Rajaraja Cholan was the most famous king of that dynasty

Bro, shoulder mounted SAMs have limited range and altitude. They can target low flying objects. However Airliners fly at much higher altitudes and well out the range of the such missiles.
