Pakistan bans Valentine's Day celebrations in Islamabad?

Why can't we ban it? What's wrong with banning a ridiculous celebration? Why should we adopt a foreign mainstream trash celebration that's nothing but a marketing gimmick. Pakistan was doing fine before and won't be bothered without it.
Because you don't have the right to impose your personal opinion on anyone else's harmless behavior. You have a right to express your opinion and to try and convince others but not to forbid.

Look I find the sight of pimply teenagers taking up every available seat in coffee shops on valentines day as vomit inducing as you, but I cannot as long as it is doing no harm, force them to do as I see fit for them....do you see what I mean? People should have the freedom to decide for themselves and their decision might not be one you agree with.

That's how I feel on "Valentines" Day. :dirol:

How do you ban it when it's not a "holiday" to begin with !?!

In this era of globalisation .. You can't ban everything just because you don't like it!

What are you gonna do to "ban" people from "celebrating",buying cards, flower or going for dinner?

Is Ch Nisar (who can't do shyt about a terrorist center in the middle of Islamabad) going to enforce the ban by stopping every couple and asking for their Nikah Nama ?

The shops are going to sell merchandise... People are going to go out for dinner.. So called useless ban will be made a joke of.. Nobody's gonna give a shyt.

I don't know. Maybe you should ask the guy I was replying to.

Secondly, about globalization, yeah gay marriage is also a part of globalization, so is promoting other kinds of obscenity, gay parades, gender changing surgery. I'm sure you won't have any objections to that when that kind of stuff comes around in Pakistan, it's "globalization" after all.

Globalization is the worst excuse to justify something that's alien to Pakistani society and does not conform with the religious values of 95% of the citizens of the ISLAMIC Republic of Pakistan.

Regarding what you said about checking Nikkah Nama, maybe when that does happen then you can complain.

This whole thing about not imposing your own "personal" opinion on others is really a very recent concept of western liberalism which, interestingly enough, not even the West abides by (eg, questioning the holocaust is banned in Europe and Israel, anyone questioning the holocaust can be arrested in European countries). What the majority mindset is within a country is what dictates what is permissible and what isn't (this is true for any country in the world). A great majority of Pakistanis look down upon western cultural practices because they are not in conformity with our religious and cultural practices, and thus if we the majority reject such bogus celebrations then individual opinions don't matter. As is the case anywhere else in the world.

Kid... Why can't you get over dumb stuff? Do you think everybody is gonna be having sex on 14th? Can't you think beyond "sex"!?!

Gay parades etc aren't our culture.. So they aren't celebrated either.. Are they? So don't say lame nonsense for the sake of it!
I can't fukin understand the dumb point you are trying to make here !

Lots of people are going to celebrate it with their wife's,fiancées also!
Why should we not celebrate just Coz some pricks have a problem with that? Who the heck are you to tell me to do or not to do something ? Unless it's not being forced down your throat?

You don't know shyt about Paks society (it's a hypocrit society to begin with)...

Or our native cultures.. It was tolerant .. Sufism flourished in this part of the world not wahabism .. Till the 80s this country had night clubs and all those oldies including Ch Nisar probably enjoyed that time...

As for happening .. That would be against constitution and freedom (that is guaranteed in it).. So stop bullshyting for the sake of it.

Cannot ban extremism and religious intolerance.. bans valentine's instead. Suits the shitty society.

But everybody will "probably be having sex" on 14th.. What will serial masterbating fake Islamist wannabes do on that day!

Masturbating or sodomy.
That being said, the number of young girls seduced by the local madressa mullah is documented in social studies to be pretty high, these bozos know their kamasutra.

Ha ha kid, did I touch a raw nerve?? Looks like I did.

Listen kiddo, what do you know of Sufism??

Lol, can you imagine the Sufis celebrating valentines day?? You know crap about Sufism. Sufism is tassawuff, not your disgusting western imported "globalization".

Now go cry like a baby elsewhere.

Ok I get your point, but I do I want to make two points before I leave the discussion:

1. 6 million Jews were killed (and very cruelly killed) in the holocaust . This is fact. Denying that fact is very insensitive to the feelings of the survivors and their families and it takes away from the lesson we should all remember. There should be no more holocausts ever again.

2. This is the point relevant to the discussion - culture is never static, it is dynamic. Pakistani culture a generation ago was much less puritanical than it is today. People wore bell bottoms and danced. There were tourists in Karachi. Things have changed. The version of Islam practiced in Pakistan was perhaps more tolerant then than it is now. Pakistani Culture will change again, in another generation who knows, you might all be very liberal . All that any one can be sure of is that it will NOT remain the same. Moderation in all things is good.

If I married a few years back .. I'd have a boy your age.. Just smarter.. Pitty your father.

Raw nerve? Son.. Looking at your posts and the anger you have inside you.. Not a secret why you rant over non issues..

Your tiny brain can't get over "sex" .. It's all you probably think about 24/7...Cause you are a frustrated like prick.. Go moan about dumb shyt like worshipping hitter.. Hating immigrants .. Talking about failures of multiculturalism and acting like the thekadar of a country you have never lived in..

BTW guys, can you imagine prominent Sufis like Baba Buleh Shah and Jallaludin Rumi celebrating valentine's day and supporting boyfriend girlfriend culture? I sure can't. I'm not sure which "Sufism" @DESERT FIGHTER is talking about here, but Sufis lived simple lives free of worldy desires and wants.
