Pakistan and China sign agreement to build Metro Train in Lahore

PTI:hitwall:PPP:hitwall::hitwall:
Again politics with solution.

Solution is each an every Pakistani standup and fight with all these bullshit parties and take what is your or else Pakistan will be no more. Our motto will be Pakistan -we live for and we die for:pakistan:

it's been 67 years facing load shedding no water no gas in winters no one came out of their houses who will stand up... ???

. .
Ok give me any single national plan for future developments on HDI?

Relax bro, I can see a lot of positive developments even just from PDF here. More energy plants, more road/port/rail, better security, etc. Pakistan has the second lowest poverty rate after SL in South Asia, that's good progress! Have faith in your brothers!

they should have gone with the original metro train project but they needed to show something for 2013 elections thus a 550 million dollar metro bus was built
politics at its best

I guess these projects are debt financed by the Chinese.

Does anyone know what is Pakistan's outstanding debt to China??

Financial constraint is not a major issue. Other than debt financing, governments can explore other options like BOT (a typical PPP model) and the likes, neither assets nor liabilities would be on government's balance sheet. Other than mainland Chinese, Hong Kong MTR Corp is definitely the most successful and experienced metro operators in the world, running projects in HK, Beijing,Thailand and Australia.

Metro is not profitable by passenger fare revenue alone, but since it will promote land values, urban planners can include the land revenue increase as part of Metro's ROI. And this is the most successful model.

Resources (tech, financial, operation) are always available, government(s) only need to make up decision on urban planning (which is not easy), other issues are manageable. Wish Pakistani bros a smooth way to develop metro systems!

Not a single project in Karachi Punjabi politics
Not Punjabi, this is Lahori n shrifi politics. Secondly let Chacha Qaim come out of Bhang and have a puri of ghairat, I believe projects will start coming up in Karachi. It's very unfortunate that Karachi is hostage to all sorts of mafias and groups.

As long as Pak does not add to their debt I guess this is a win win situation for both.

But this was not the case with the Sri Lanka port project. I understand that there SL borrowed at 6% from China which was quite heavy for a marginal project.

Every country to their own but it's interesting to know how China is building projects worldwide.

Thank MQM who either sent all funds to altaf bhai or spent on buying American weapons and ammunition. btw provincial development is provincial governments responsibility not federal.

Ok so after metro bus its metro train, so why couldn't we had the metro train in the first place.

Different purposes for a Bus vs. a Train metro system. In New York for example, you have an extensive underground Subway system, you can find a train from almost every corner / block. But yet, the MTA runs a huge network of buses.

There are places where the trains don't have stations and the ones existing, are too far out for people to walk to. That's where the bus routes will go. At the end, the goal is to provide public a better and safer travel arrangement, which is faster, more productive and convenient for common, average people (majority of which are poor). Those are the people who count the most!!

Also, each Metro train or Bus system, created thousands of permanent long term jobs to support these systems. So between a Metro and a Bus system, you'll have thousands of people trained and employed, resulting in more revenue, tax generations, providing better quality of life AND making travel safer, easier and much cheaper. What more do you want???? These are the projects which ignite a country dead economy and stand it up on its feet. Not sure why the criticism of everything the current government does for its citizens.

If you decide to write about any "conspiracy theories" or "ghost corruption", please do provide proofs, otherwise, allow the good work to continue to help poor, average Pakistanis!

That is true. Very true.

But remember, metro train won't be built until at least 2018. Maybe it may go into 2020. So should they have waited for years so they could build metro train?

Dams/nuclear plants are cheaper to produce electricity etc. So should we stop wasting money on gas/coal power plants?

The problem in Karachi is that the people responsible for developing it have neglected Karachi itself. I remember one side of Layari express way still incomplete because of illegal construction backed by PPP and MQM hindering its way. JICA presented plans for circular railways in late 2000s and despite MQM,ANP and PPP enjoying their slices of power, JICA ultimately scrapped the project. Karachi has been orphaned by the people who have been encashing her misery rather than eliminating it.

Thanks. OMG! Metro (underground train) is definitely needed!
Underground karva KY karna hay kaya? Even a drop of rain causes roads flooded because of uneven terrain. Have a bus metro alongside three of the busiest routes and most of the commuting will be covered.
