Pakistan Air Force marks Defence Day

Defence Day of Pakistan was celebrated in a befitting manner at all PAF bases throughout the country. The auspicious day was observed with a renewed pledge and determination to make "Fizaia" even more stronger and potent force to face any challenge.

The day started with special prayer for the martyrs and recitation of the Holy Quran. A special feature of the day was the change-of-guards ceremony at the Quaid-e-Azam's mausoleum in Karachi.

Aviation Cadets from Pakistan Air Force Academy, Risalpur assumed duties at the mausoleum to honour the Father of the Nation.

After the Aviation cadets assumed guard duties, Air Vice Marshal M Safdar Khan, Air Officer Commanding PAF Academy, Risalpur offered Fateha and laid floral wreath to honour the Father of the Nation.

Aerial and static display of aircraft and allied weapons exhibition was conducted at PAF Base Chaklala, PAF Base Masroor (Karachi) and PAF Base Lahore.Air Vice Marshal Faaiz Amir, Air Officer Commanding, Northern Air Command at Chaklala, Air Vice Marshal Atique Rafiq, Air Officer Commanding Central Air Command at Lahore and Air Vice Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt, Air Officer Commanding Southern Air Command at Masroor (Karachi) inaugurated the ceremonies.

Students form Air Force schools and colleges presented national songs. A large number of visitors witnessed the display.On the occasion of Defence Day, Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Tanvir Mahmood Ahmed said in his message, "On this historic day, we remember with profound gratitude and admiration, the heroic feats of our Shaheeds and Ghazis, who set unprecedented examples of patriotism and professional glory. We owe them an abiding debt of gratitude and pay them homage, by emulating their examples of professionalism and devotion to duty. The best way to keep alive and solidify the September '65 spirit is to devote our energies and efforts to strengthen Pakistan against all external and internal threats. I would like to assure my countrymen and women that, despite resource constraints, PAF is strongly committed to defending our aerial frontiers….. May Allah grant us the strength and vision to fulfill our obligations to the nation to the best of our abilities and in line with the aspirations of the people of Pakistan! Aameen."
