Pak suffers heavy casualties as govt gives troops free hand

And some where in India @Oscar , Army chief has to ask for permission to retaining one more year of government quarters.
Post-retirement, Army Chief to get govt quarters for a year
The Ministry of Defence has agreed to a request by outgoing Army Chief General V K Singh to retain a government accommodation for a year after his retirement. Sources said Gen Singh had put in a request to extend his stay at the Mandir Marg house that is earmarked for retired Army Chiefs for a period of three months.

The officer had asked the ministry to give an extension of nine more months beyond the period as he would require the time to build a post-retirement house. It is learnt that Defence Minister A K Antony agreed to the request and the extension was recently approved by the government.

Recently retired chiefs are given government accommodation for a short period due to security considerations and it is usual for the ministry to extend the stay on request.

And gentlemen, this little exersize is very relevant to this thread and specifically the question posed by indischer.

When India says pak has suffered heavy casualities, there must be some truth to it. Also, pakistan has this habit of not disclosing the casuality figures. During last face off as well, India said we have retaliated with more fire power. There were no reports in pakistan...but after some days, the truth came out.

Not sure what to show for scale, but its at least 700 sq yards of covered area on two floors with basement.

Again, this is very respected gentleman who has NOT indulged in any misuse of his power for personal gain at all. But still,he walks away with this.

I want you to look at this image. Infact I want all of those tagged to look at this image, and tell me by their own human instincts whether they would not do the same.

The area in the google map image I have highlighted in pink is the Pearl continental Hotel in Peshawar. The area circled in red is the residence of the Corps commander. Nothing classified, its known to all.
For scale this is the PC hotel in peshawar(bombed and now rebuilt)

Would you in that position of seniority, and has a human being. As a collective culture, be willing to give up such perks as this palace on which no one questions you regarding the expenditure or otherwise?
Would you be willing to compromise any possibility of civilian oversight on why this is so? why is such a large area dedicated to a general's residence?(regardless of his seniority). Now imagine this replicated across the country.. the entire Army.

One can argue that they spend a lifetime in servitude to get here, but do IA corps commander not do the same?

Is there any example in India (which I want you to honestly search for) like this?

Our Army Top Brass gets very good homes too, but none this aalishan I believe. As for the google search on an Indian Army General's Bungalow, sorry mate, couldn't find anything of substance.

I would not be too sure, at this point India has lost certain troopers and it is a matter of national prestige to play out numbers. As such, the result of violations here has not resulted in any deaths. Casualties as in getting shot there may be, but as such reports are that everybody is hunkered down when the Indian barrage starts.

Its as simple, if India starts the firing.. its ALREADY prepared to hide in bunkers after it does so.. the same goes here.
Its the element of surprise that gets you killed.

You are Mistaken. These apartment flats for not for retired Generals but for serving Generals.

After retirement no govt. servant including army generals is given any kind of housing. They have to go back to their ancestral property or any other house they may have built during their years of service or their wife home if she has one, or their children's home.

The only thing the generals get after retirement is their pension. That too they have to go once in a year to the pension office and declare they are alive to continue getting that pension.

No, nothing on that scale, its unimaginable for a career general, other than if it is ancestral property, no one can escape the anti corruption and IT dragnet, especially a retired personnel. One of my neighbor is a retd. Lt general and lives a upper middle class life with his family which is very much understandable. I doubt anyone can even find an equivalent example to what you highlighted.

Such things do not always come in Pakistan media.
but some hindsight are shown for such luxurious living of your army generals.
There is need to much transparency from army side.

Why do you asking such questions ? don't you fear to be branded as Indian agent or ameriki pitthoo or non-patriot?

I dont fear jack. Because such questions need to be asked. On your side as well.

Why the hell are we are constant conflict?
What are the true drivers on both sides to this conflict?

Is there anything like that in India? Be honest about it, do a through search and then return. Because whatever you find will possibly give you a much better insight on what you are facing(and why your military and government behaves the way it does too).

General VK Singh(of Kargil fame) lives in Kothi in Panchkula, costing about 10 crore INR.

That national prestige thing is not taken seriously in India. Even if we want to hide, the media plays a spoilsport. If at all that was the case, India would not have reported the beheading of the soldiers near border by BATs. Immediatly after that, India said it retaliated with full force. We have seen videos and telephone intercepts from pak side which backs up India's claims. Yet, pak didnot report the casualities from it's side. So, lets wait and see how much truth is there in our claims this time around.
