Pak sovereignty must be respected in pursuit of militants: UN

UNITED NATIONS: UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has urged Pakistan and the United States to resolve the issue of American military raids into Pakistani territory in pursuit of militants, emphasizing respect for the country’s sovereignty.

“I would only hope and urge the concerned parties to resolve this issue, respecting each other’s concerns as well as their sovereignty and territorial integrity,” he said in response to a question at his monthly press conference.

On the precarious situation in Afghanistan and the growing calls for political, rather than military solution, Ban said, “I believe that there is no perfect military option. I believe that there should be more political dialogue to resolve these issues. This is desirable.”

At the same time, he said there were realistic and practical concerns and challenges of eradicating, fighting against terrorism. “That is why we need the military operations. Therefore, military operations and political dialogue and political solutions should be harmoniously balanced. That is what we have been working on.”

The secretary-general said his special representative in Afghanistan, Kai Eide, has been given a unique coordinating role by the international community.

Why should anyone else "respect" Pakistani soverignty when Pakistan itself does not demonstrate any such "respect" for it's soverignty?

Is allowing domestic and foreign terrorists to use what Pakistani government says is it's territory, a demonstration of respect for Pakistani soverignty?

Is allowing any system of law or custom other than the Pakistan law, a demonstration of respect for Pakistani soverignty??

Respect, like charity, begins at home??:pop::wave:

I agree with Banny on this one, Pakistan's sovereignty should be respected. It is funny how he says these logical things but when it comes to actions to make this happen, he is powerless.

And while we are it, death and taxes should be outlawed and the law respected by terrorists.

Immediately after this statement another twenty innocent civillians have been killed by the drones of Pakistan's "ally", so we can safely assume that these words were just a dirty joke.

Exactly! Who in the hell cares what the UN has to say. Its just a body made to be used and absued by the world Powers as it deems fit to them.
Moreover the GOP has itself allowed these hot pursuits, which they deny ofcourse no there is noone outside to blame then ourself.
