don't go with ratios, give a general analysis. From Indian pov, the two-front readiness Pakistan + China, which you guys believe is the real threat, the situation doesn't look good, even for Pakistan despite numerical superiority. And I say that due to history of previous conflicts. On paper, you guys should defeat PAF. Currently, IAF, IN at best can defend any offensive. It can not give the offensive punch it should.

If it was always about the numbers in war, then it wouldn't be the of platforms or weapons you have, rather the rate of sorties and the soldier handling the weapon. And in war, apart from war-fighting intensity, you also need quality allies, who you can coordinate and work in synergy with.

Matching weapons in number vis-a-vis your enemy is a fool's errand to pursue. The Soviet Union suffered because of it. In contrast, Nazi Germany suffered the opposite of the Soviets, they had little to no coordination with allies, as well as having little to no allies.

If Pakistan is to match the enemy in anything, it is capabilities, not number of aircraft or tanks or warships or guns. Quality of weapons, in the same breath with quality of soldiers and allies that we can coordinate with, is what we must focus on. Rather than matching the enemy warship for warship or aircraft for aircraft.

india chose the wrong side to be on. It's only chance of any salvation is Russia, and if india does chose Russia as an ally, it has to abandon the West. Plus being an ally of Russia means india must find peace with China and that means it must establish peace with Pakistan. This india has lost the initiative and strategic momentum. Current leadership of india and it's media are all but for peace with China or Pakistan. For that reason, they will go only in one direction, and that is the West. It's an irreversible trajectory they have placed themselves in.

You make your decisions, then learn to live with the consequences of your decisions. Got nobody to blame but yourselves, india.

There was a rumoured further sale. The Quality site covered this already. I think it was for two more systems. As the PAF has 11 SAAB 2000 airframes (That's the airliner not the aew system for the new guys) its entirely possible that they have 9 (7 +2 new)

I believe the inventory Indian has is both quantitatively and qualitatively great. It's more of lack of optimizing and poor tactics,planning with logistics, quality of ground staff including ATCs and pilots in air. Nothing they can not overcome. Let's see if their new leadership can ameliorate the situation.

Present South Western Air Command chief Air Marshal Sandeep Singh has been approved to take over as the next Vice Chief of Air Staff. He would be a successor to the present Vice Chief Air Marshal VR Chaudhari who will take charge as the next IAF chief on September 30.

Present Western Air Command chief Air Marshal Balabhadra Radha Krishna has now been appointed as the new Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (CISC) to the Chairman of the Chief of Staff Committee. He would be the first IAF officer in the last almost six years to take over as the CISC which plays an important role in all tri-services matters working under the Chief of Defence Staff.

In the Western Air Command, Krishna would be replaced by Air Marshal Amit Dev as the new commander. Amit Dev is already serving as the chief of Eastern Air Command. He would have a tenure of around six months in the new office in Delhi. Appointments to the Eastern, South-Western, and Southern commands are yet to be announced and orders are expected to be issued soon.

Esteemed members are invited to analyze the future projections realistically along with discussing different scenarios vis-a-vis India considering Pakistan has all aircrafts free to direct towards India but India has to retain some airpower for China/Eastern Border. Consider old versions of the mentioned fighters either retired or upgraded and included in the figures;also take average fighter jets availability of Pakistan to be 90% (340 aircrafts)
and of Indians to be 80% (578).[New ratio becomes 578:340 ~ 1.7]. Feel free to catagorize the fleet into their respective squadrons and position them accordingly into the war theatre.
