Here's a bleak tech fact to kick off your week: You will never, ever, ever see every planet in No Man's Sky.

That's because there are 18,446,744,073,709,551,616 of them, and Hello Games co-founder Sean Murray told
IGN that it would take you around 5 billion years if you wanted to visit them all for just one second each.

That's exactly why the team is
having to send bots to take and return photos of the game's many, many far-flung worlds.

And even if scientists discover a live-forever drug in our lifetime, it's estimated that our sun only has 4.6 billion years of life left in it. So yeah, you've already failed at this game.

why would we visit every planets at all? It seems like (8 out of 10 planets) so far we have found are gas giants like Jupiter.

Just need to identify the closest habitable planet with its sun having enough juice left for another 5 billion years.

So in case of natural disaster or the sun beginning to fade we can move there.

Time should now be spent on working like hell to produce the vehicle which can take us there. This is could easily take us another 100 years.

The sole purpose is the find another habitable planet or few to ensure the continuity of human race.

Did anyone read the whole thing or is everybody just shooting from the hip as usual?
This is about a video game that has managed to simulate that many planets with their entire ecosystems.
So if a players wants to visit all of those planets, it will be impossible for them.

Nobody has the patience to read 4 lines. How the readers are commenting on long articles? or just by taking a look at the head lines?

It's procedurally generated content, so they basically put together the total number of possible planets that could be generated to garner advertisement.

Imagine someone totaling up all the possible maps and items you could possibly get in diablo, and calling them a unique world, that would be huge large number too.

But the fact is fact = The sun will explode after 7 billion years...Because, slowly, its losing its mass ..

by burning itself..

it not loosing actually, it gaining, through iron.

I'm curious, how on earth did they manage to make such a huge game?
Did they use some kind of program that generated random worlds with random combinations of terrain?
How many terabytes would this game be? From the looks of it, I'd say the sun will explode before it finishes Installing!

Hmm...You do have a point!!
