This is fantastic. Every major city needs a rail system similar to this, this is quite an upgrade. Great to see CPEC bearing fruit.

One thing that bothers me to no end is how the city is so level...a city of 11 million NEEDS high rises.

Bus line does not relieve traffic. Metro rail does. One of the biggest problems in South Asia is the horrid traffic conditions.

Electric buses are being introduced for Islamabad Metro Bus so this oil and gas thing is not even an issue. Secondly tickets for metro train are expensive and still subsidy needs to be provided. Metro train caters to small population of Lahore whereas Metro bus network would have been able to cater entire Lahore populace. Lastly maintenance will be nightmare for these train and probably will require foreign servicing teams. At least for buses there is already a setup in place for maintenance locally.

For metro bus service it is 20-30Rs and for metro train its is 40Rs. If subsidy not given then original ticket price would be Rs 200 approx. for metro train which is extra burden for a service which will need to pay off its loans.

That is Faisal Mosque, currently the largest mosque in Pakistan. It was opened in 1986 in Islamabad. It is by far the most iconic building in all of Pakistan. You should definitely see it if you ever come in Pakistan, it is truly wonderful.

A metro bus line is extremely antiquated and does not solve traffic bottlenecks. It is absolutely no comparison to a comprehensive metro system which would significantly alleviate transportation issues while building an infrastructure for growth.

In Pakistan MetroBus runs on elevated and dedicated tracks to avoid traffic congestion so that is not an issue here. You are assuming that Buses will be running on the same roads which is not correct. My point here is that there was no urgent need for Lahore metro train project. The money from this project could have been used from much better purpose.
