Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Raheel Sharif said Pakistan's operation against terrorists in the country's tribal region was affected by Indian troops' continuous violation of ceasefire at the Line of Control (LoC) and Working Boundary (WB), said a report published by BBC Urdu.
An official in Washington told BBC Urdu, on condition of anonymity, that during his first visit to the United States, the army chief had said that heavy firing by Indian troops along the border and statements issued by their leaders were affecting Pakistan's campaign in fighting against extremism.
Gen Raheel told US officials that Pakistan has deployed 140,000 troops on its Western borders after getting assurance that there would be peace with India on its Eastern borders which did not happen.
However, there was no word on Gen Raheel's statement by the US, but experts often say that the US now avoids interfering in India-Pakistan matters.
Frequency of ceasefire violation along the LoC and working boundary has increased during the past several weeks. Pakistan has also established diplomatic channels to communicate with India over the issue. More than 19 people have lost their lives on both sides as a result of the cross-border conflict.
Gen Raheel was expected to meet US congressmen on Wednesday (today) where he would brief them on the ongoing operation Zarb-i-Azb in North Waziristan. Issues related to US-Pakistan long-term strategic partnership post-withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan would also be discussed during the meeting.
Observers say that Gen Raheel could present Zarb-i-Azb as an example, based on which he will demand continuation of military aid to the country.
According to recently released figures by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), more than 1,200 militants have been killed and 200 militants hideouts have been destroyed during the operation.
The military has also claimed the wiping out of Haqqani Network and the East Turkistan Movement from the region, the report said.

Because Raheel is pissed off that they cannot afford to infiltrate terrorists of the LeT/JeM anymore because of the tough and massive Indian response, totally destroying dozens of posts of the PA and Rangers. They know that providing covering fire for the infiltrating terrorists will get them clobbered again. So that's why they've gone crying to Momma!

@OrionHunter : This should be our response from now on, to any inceident of ceasefire violation or any attempt to push infiltrators - no more proportionate response - escalate the stakes and retaliate massively at all the army and ranger posts that fired at us, or tried to help mujjus to sneak in. Burn the post to cinders. We know that we have enough firepower and resources to give them an escalated response each time.
What do you think the US cares anyway? Nobody cares about the Kashmir non-issue, that's the truth. They will give Pakistan the same response we give to a toddler crying for the moon.

Is the general really kidding I mean for God sake when has US ever kept its promises and assurances. When will we Pakistanis ever learn that US is hardly friendly material and In the end you fight your battles on your own. We let Afghanistan slip into Indian hands by playing the US game otherwise until 9/11 we have absolutely no tension from our western front and nor was Pakistan subjected to a proxy war which resulted in of thousands our deaths.
Since the war on terror started, we have failed to get anything substantial from the US. The Kashmir issue is still there, India got acknowledge as a nuclear power and got the nuclear deal, FDI increased, a permanent seat towards UNSC and what did we got, 16 odd F-16s and that too we paid for them, more than 50,000 lives lost, economy destroyed and in the end all blame was also put on us for the US failures in Afghanistan.
Way to go, thumbs up for the Pakistani leadership (Army included) and their foreign policy.

1) Indians have never run to the US for ceasefire in the middle of a war. That was your own PM, who flew to big daddy Washington DC, after stupidly starting the Kargil war. Our response was through Bofors guns and Smerch rockets.
2) What do you think we can do from Afghanistan? Send infiltrators to capture your NWFP? Believe me, not even the devil wants to rule that place. Our only concern is for our Kashmir which you try to take from us by infiltrating terrorists. Each time you attempt that, a few of your army and ranger posts nearby will cease to exist.
3) We are all for peace - it is you who are trying to take our Kashmir.

1. i didnt say you run to US but UN .. check out 48 and 65 ...
2 . there is no cure for the person living in delusion ... everyone knows what is Indian interest in Afghanistan ....
3 . first its not your Kashmir , you are holding it by force , if you do than there is no reason to stationed 0.6 million armed force in IOK ...second , its a disputed territory, and a issue which needs to be solved by mutual understanding , which probably be giving kashmiri peoples right to decide for themselves .
