Our super incapable media is again making a castle out of nothing. Quoting Parikar out of context and making stories which suit some companies who pay them( its of course SAAB and EADS).
We should not brag and apply some sense.
The number now will be at least 72 to 100.

4 Squadrons is the minimum we need.

India has decided to buy only 36 Rafale fighter jets scrapping the earlier plan to acquire 126 of the French aircraft on grounds of huge cost.

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar has said the UPA deal for 126 Rafales was way too expensive and it would have hampered other modernisation plans of the Indian military.

Obviously not because the plan behind the MMRCA deal WAS to acquire numbers. Earlier 126 aircraft were
to be contracted in a single deal...now perhaps a similar number would be acquired in follow-on contracts after
the initial 36 are delivered. Anyone who thinks IAF is only ever going to get just 36 Rafales is clearly a fool who
knows nothing about either the IAF or about combat aircraft in general.

Exactly, Originally 140 Su-30MKIs were to be built...but we ended up getting 272 (with some sources saying final
numbers could reach as high as ~350).

The order for rafale is only for 36.
Even mirage2000 number remained 50, no further order.
Any way keep on dreaming for more rafale.
