According to that globaltimes article it was 2020 not a decade ago...but I never trust any mouthpiece of the Chinese government to be truthful. They are just known BS'ers.

LOL! The example 4 person scenario family is usually interpreted as 2 adults with 2 kids. So i don't see how you are expecting kids to be generating income to get their family above the poverty level. So it is $27,750/2.

Everyone can see thousands, if not millions, of homeless, sick, underfed people living in tent cities in the US. Where are these people in China, a country 4 times bigger in population. What the use of high GDP, when your people are so poor and dirty, and your government is lacking money, even for infrastructure, compared to shiny, excellent infrastructure in China or even (part of) North Korea.

The usual excuse from the West is "China hide them all", just like the case of North Korea.

Western logic as it is finest.

Korea's nominal GDP is higher than that of Russia, but the impact of Russia on world's economy has proved to be much larger.

The per capita formula is the same in the US as China ...so don't argue it isn't.

The only difference is the definition of who is poor by each country. The US says under ~$37/day. China is more closer to the UN definition of only a few dollars a day.

Yes, there are old people and children in America. The elderly and children are included in the calculation according to the same standard. The USA should be $6900, not $13590.

To be honest, I once lived in Germany for half a year on business. Germany has been one of the countries with the highest income in Europe, but I can see that the income of most German adults is only 12 euros per hour.

In addition, considering taxes and prices, I think that although the income of the Germans is better than that of the Chinese, there is not much difference between them and the Chinese in the central and eastern regions. Germany's better place is welfare and environment.
