Mongols over ran Russia and Eastern Europe. Yet, in Russia and Eastern Europe, Mongols are called Tatars (Supposedly Turkic people) ? Any rational explanation ?

Tatar word used to be define whole Altaic Peoples, including Turks, Mongols, Manchus etc.

Funny maps, reminded me of the biased British translation of works of a monk that traveled to Asia in the 1240's... what he wrote "Liber Tartarorum" got translated to Book of Mongols, I think even an idiot with zero knowledge of Latin could translate Tartarorum to Tatars... :D but hey until recently Tatars were a side note to their Mongol bias history according the British, the irony being that in almost all areas from Central Asia to Europe Turkic languages are spoken, not Mongolian, and Tatars nor the word Tatar does not define anything other than Tatar.

A friend of mine is trying to put together a site with a tonne of such information and resources on it.

Its not certain if Bleda, Rua, or Attila is definietly Turkic. But there are many other Huns that carry Turkic names. Mundzuk is indeed Turkic. Its Boncuk in modern Turkish(back in time it meant precious gem). There is a Hunnic leader named Karaton. Kara Don(read as Black clothed or Black armoured). Attila's sons Ellac, İlli(Country owner/lord) in modern Turkish. Dengizich, Denizcik in modern Turkish, "Little Sea". Those are definietly Turkic. Attila, Bleda, Oktar, Uldin etc. names are also presumed to be Turkic but not certain.
