Blue ribbon wearers 'want HK back to normal'

2 October 2014 Last updated at 22:40 BST

The yellow ribbon, along with the umbrella, has become a symbol for the thousands of protestors taking park in the pro-democracy movement in Hong Kong.

Most of them wear it pinned to their shirts and tie them around trees in the government complex.

But after days of disruption to parts of the financial district and other major areas of the city, some are saying enough in enough.

They have taken to sporting blue ribbons, the colour of the local police uniforms, in response and calling for peace and a return to normalcy.

That was a struggle doomed to lose after all. Only a bunch of Indians got excited and jumped up and down like cuties.

You know, i wonder how the parents of these students can tolerate the disruption their kids have caused to the city. You would think they should be affected as well.

Most parents, as I see frequently here in TW, care little about their kids' whereabouts. There is this stupid idea of endless freedom and liberation of the new generations. There is little accountability on part of the youth, let alone negative consequences.

I guess, also, with social media, parents lost greater control over their kids' ways of thinking.

In most youth, political consciousness does not exists. Their political passion and hysteria grows as their political awareness disappears.

Maybe too much of traditional family values has been lost over the course of development and Westernization.

Unfortunately, I echo your sentiment. Just look at the lawlessness displayed by the naive students in the sunflower movement. aka 太陽花. The unbelievable part was, no punishment was dished out. How will they ever learn anything about the rule of law and respect for others, if the govt and the parents constantly turn a blind eye to their misdeeds, simply because they are young?
