New York City officials have arrested a terror suspect who has voiced anger at police and U.S. soldiers returning home from overseas, NBC New York has learned.
Mayor Bloomberg, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly and Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. were expected to announce the arrest Sunday evening at City Hall.
Sources said the suspect had recently obtained explosive material to make pipe bombs. Law enforcement officials had been watching him since 2009.
Police took the man into custody Saturday.
Sources say the suspect is a loner who lives with his mother.
