I don't get to hear about our Mig 27 fleet of late. They also don't seem to have undergone upgrades like the Jaguar fleet. Are they all informally mothballed? Any updates in this regard?

178 Su-30 + 54 MiG-29 + 49 Mirage 2000 + 235 MiG-21, that makes 516 fighters. PAF has 49 JF-17 + 76 F-16 (including 13 from Jordan delivered this month) + 186 F-7 + 75 Mirage III, that makes 386 fighters. Ratio is 516 / 386 = 1.3 :yes4:

Given India's population, IAF needs at least 4,000 fighters.

Superboy/man YOUR MATHS is awful

178 Su30mki
235 Mig21
124 Jaguar
70 Mig27
54 Mig29
49 Mirage 2000

= over 700 planes

which gives IAF ratio of 1.7 TO 1 over pakistan.

To be fair we shouldny count on 110 Mig21 OLDER TYPES CAUSE THEY ARE ready to be mothballed by 2016 anyway

luckily this baby below

You forgot the jaguars. Also, could you name any air force on the planet that has 4,000 fighters?

Stop pulling random numbers from your backside.

Jaguar and MiG-27 are attack planes, so I did not count them under fighters. PAF currently has 82 Mirage 5 attack planes, which I also did not count under fighters. The first two operational Tejas, SP-3 and SP-4, are scheduled for delivery next year, so I did not count any Tejas.

The US certainly has thousands of fighters, including over 1,000 F-16, over 1,000 F-15, 184 F-22, over 1,000 F/A-18.

Your Numbers are slightly in accurate
IAF has 194 Su 30MKI as of Jan 2014,
Also we wont be upgrading 62 Mig29 , if we only had 54
Mirages are correct at 49
we have 70 Mig27 Fighters and 9 Trainers across 4 Sqds ,this figure is correct
IAF has 149 Jaguars ( 116 Jag IS, 8 Jag IM, 25 Jag Trainers, IAF plan to keep 100 Jag IS and 20 Trainers Flying till 2026

Mig 21 Numbers are overstated at 235,
its more close to 180, since 3 sqds have been retired in last 2 yrs, and AK Antony said that we have 9 Mig 21 sqds in service as of Jan 2014, with 120 of them being Bisons,
Non Bison mig 21 will be phased out by 2015

So actual fleet is more likely to be 194+180+124+70+62+49, thats around 680 fighters spread across 34 sqds

134 Su-30 delivered by HAL + 50 Su-30 delivered by Russia add up to 184 total delivered. Minus 4 lost to accident gives 180 Su-30 in IAF. I suspect wiki's Su-30 number is not correct. As I explained, MiG-27 and Jaguar are not fighters.

I specifically asked you to name one air force. The USAF does not have 4000 fighters. BTW it doesn't have over 1000 F-15s. And the USAF and USN together don't have 4000 fighters, which is the figure you recommended for India. So if the most powerful military on the planet, one that can strike any corner of the world, does not have 4000 fighters, where did you come up with such a figure for India?

What will it take to make you understand not to pull figures out of your backside? What are you trying to be, a chinese-canadian ''Nishan''? Even that fellow doesn't come up with such wild figures.

US has about 450 F15's, 1250 F16's, 187 F22's, 430 F18's, 488 SuperHornets, 100 Harriers.
About 2900 aircraft. This doesn't include a mishmash of other minor stuff.

184 F-22, since 3 were lost to accident.
