What's new

Not what you expect...North Iran

Next Week (march 21) is the start of the spring season which is also the Persian New Year or "Norooz" (meaning new day) in Iran. Norooz is an ancient tradition and is celebrated in many countries around Iran...Painting eggs is one of the ways for people to express their joy of nature returning...if you think you are an artist..choose and egg and go at it...

These pictures of Iran are amazing. How easy is it for a foreign tourist to go to Iran? As a British passport holder would I been seen with suspicion in Iran?

Kish Island is a free trade zone so you can just take your British Passport and fly there no visa required...for the mainland you need visa..just please do not take a drone with you for filming in the mainland,,lol

PS: I do not know if you can get a visa in the island for the the main land visit..if serious I can ask Iranians in Iran to investigate...

InshaAllah in the future I'd love to visit Iran. I prefer to travel to Muslim countries. Every time you hear the adhan or sit in a masjid during namaz you instantly feel at home - wherever you are.

That is good to hear. I notice Pakistanis who are a bit older have positive views on Iran. The younger generation are somewhat more pro Saudi or are neutral.

It's called being logical, even normal intelligent iranians cant stand the loony mullah brigade.

Northern Iran... I remember seeing an old movie which took place in northern Iran. I forgot the name but it ends up with father saving his son and being washed out to Caspian Sea from river.

Anyways I liked how the forest looked in the film. I really couldn’t give two shits about your cities and villas because it doesn’t impress me as much as nature and natural beauty does. Anyways I’m sure the natural beauty and landscapes of Northern Iran are beautiful.

I saw this picture on Wikipedia of all places. It is a great picture, I have wanted to take one just like this myself of Milad Tower with snowy Alborz in the background. This guy finally got it.

Western Iran

Having seen the North and the South, let me show you some scenery of the Western parts of Iran... mostly in Iran's two Azari provinces where mountains and lakes dominate the landscape (reminds me of the Alps).

I think It is time to show you some of Iran's major cities...and I start with Capital city "Tehran" ...Compared to other Iranian major cities that are much older, Tehran is relatively new city may be only 300-400 years old .It now has a population of around 8 to 10 million so it is a small mega city....Very cosmopolitan in the words of Jack Straw former British foreign minister when he first saw Tehran he wrote in his book that the city reminded him of Madrid (I have not been in Madrid so I do not know!). No skyscrapers (4 fault lines criss cross the land scape) but modern and orderly and spread out with highways and tunnels through out. To the north you have snow covered Alborz mountains and to the south you have dry plains. here are some photos.
