NOHAD or "nirooye vijheye hava darya" aka Special Air Sea Assault Team is an iranian Special force under the command of IRI Artesh forces which is the regular army .

they are specialized in hostage rescue and anti-terrorism . they are one of the most deadly Special Force teams that iran possesses , proudly standing above "Takavaran" which is the Marine special forces .

their Training is focused on rescuing hostages , foiling terrorist attacks , terminating terrorists on foreign lands and behind enemy lines , capturing vital city buildings in a very short time paving the way for regular forces in case of a conventional attack on a foreign city .

History : NOHAD had always been one of the most fearsome forces in iranian military even before the revolution during which they were co-trained with SBS and US special Units (unknown) . after the revolution , in an exercise they captured vital parts of tehran in about 2 hours which with extreme sorrow led to their calling off duty . they continued their extreme training until a couple of years after that when iranian leader intervened and asked them to help during the war . one of their Operations was the capture of Faav island of iraq in which limited numbers of them were participating .

they are specialized in Using Sub-machine guns (which is their favorite in Hostage rescue) , machine guns , Assault rifles and Sniper rifles . basically every single Shyte you can think of !

here are some pics of their training . hostage rescue in a train in a desert . some of the pics are provided with links to save time .

I never understand the reason of wearing pitch black camos during day time... I have seen the exact same thing from Iraqi Special Forces....

Black overalls make these forces look distinct in exercises. When they're in the field they'll have camo for that theater of operations.

SAS has a hand in this. As well as Ninjas. Its not anything to show off or ego, its just to look distinguished.

Remember each military branch is a family. You want your family to be recognized for what it does, kind of like having a beret specific to your branch/ Unit. Cant have some general wonder how great the National Army is when it's the Special Forces of that branch showing off their training. And you have to compete at the table.

It was JFK seeing American Special Forces in exercises when he decided theses boys need whatever they want to ask for.

NOHAD uses different camos and Various gun settings in different missions based on the task .

but during public exercises they always use this kind of camo .

NOHAD has no pics taken which is not during an exercise .

Looks don't makes you a better fighter(example of Iraqi forces above) ..... But if black camo is not being used like the haman said, during day time operations then it is no problem.

in short ? how is that the short version of what we said ?

no not at all , iranian forces have no intention of looking bad a$s as you claim (unlike certain countries) .

even a 5yr old kid can easily understand that just by looking at the pics above . they don't use intimidating skeleton masks - LOL- and childish useless attachments which their only purpose is looking cool .

those attachments which are used by most of the neighboring countries can be found out in Ebay as cheap as 100$ per unit .

meanwhile we concentrate and focus on our trainings

No.

Look, funds are limited. No matter what country we're talking about. Each Military branch is fighting the other to get the most $. Now how do you do that?

By surprising the stupid idiots that are elected into government. Show them a couple of commando spins, kicks, and marksmanship. Rappel of a helicopter, shot an apple of a comrade's head.

The Army disapproved of the beret as too European looking, not masculine enough. But after Brigadier General William Yarborough told the president Special Forces wanted them, JFK issued a statement that "the green beret will be a mark if distinction in the trying times ahead."

Kennedy referred to the green beret as a "new elite military icon, a symbol of excellence, a badge of courage, a mark of distinction in the fight for freedom."

In short...to look like a Bad@ss.

ok... well sure.

I made an assumption.

If they are using normal camos during operations and only using black camo during public demonstrations.... what is the reason then ? (not insisting on my assumption, asking for a reason)

i suggest u once again read the comments made by me and Thəorətic Muslim .

you'll get your answer . SAS and SBS which are prime co-trainee with NOHAD also use the same tactic .

agree , black camo only fits police special forces or navy boarding teams

Believe me, this unit's least concern is looking badass, they are one of the best trained special forces in region and even the world. Even if they don't have the most fancy equipment some other countries have, I am sure they can kick many of their asses easily. This is not a new born unit, its history goes more than 60 years ago, with battle experience in Iran-Iraq war, penetrating deep inside Iraqi territory and executing operations. Their black camos is only for this training operation, Here's other camos used by Nohad.

Hostage rescue and Anti-terrorist missions inside the country are duty of Police special operation forces
fighting terrorists aboard is job of Army special operations forces (for example Delta has never been used inside USA).
Is this unit capable of doing both ?

It mostly refers to hostages taken in foreign countries or by terrorist groups on the borders, not the regular hostage incidents inside the country. The police has a special forces unit called NOPO for these operations.
