Counties don't need cultural or ethnic ties to be strong allies/partners. In fact I believe it's even the opposite. Countries who share similar ethnic, cultural ties or in same neighborhood often tend to have more enmity, competition, jealousy and hostility among each others than those that are foreign to them. An example, I'm sure there are countries outside Asia who have far better ties/favourable views with China than China's neighbours ( for example African countries , latin America countries, middle Eastern, South Asia etc etc have far better ties/favourable view and strong ties with China than its neighbours ), same with India, we all know your neighbours despise you compared to foreign far away nations that have good ties with you, same with Russia, I don't need to talk about how much Russia's neighbours fear and have a negative view of them (which is normal looking at their history). Etc etc. So ethnicity has nothing to do with alliances. If anything, sometimes its usually the opposite. Lol

Agree actually, I think it's one of the main reason both countries have been wary of forming a formal alliance since they know the implications for this will be far reaching. Since they know that doing so will force western block countriess (even those that have been neutral or favourable towards one of them) to form an even stronger alliance and ties with NATO and create a new type of cold war which nobody wants.
So I believe both countries will continue their unofficial alliance and close ties . They have actually been willing to cooperate on some strategic and sensitive sectors recently unlike before. This shows that they are getting more closer and are willing to give ABIT more trust in their relationship. This is actually the best their ties has ever been in their history funny enough. It will be this way for a long time and I think they will only grow closer and cooperate in many more sectors (they are already doing so in space sector, aerospace sector, ballistic missile early warning system sectors , military sector etc ) this coming decades, as they face a common threat namely the world's sole superpower US and an added one for Russia in the name of Europe (giving their close proximity and Russia's beligerence)

I never said ethnicity leads to an alliance. But I do not see an African or Latin American dying for China. Positive impressions of China in Africa or Latin America are meaningless

The only country which has so far been be able to pull other countries to their wars is the US and this is due to their leverage and sole superpower status where they have more means and leverage to pull their allies into joining their wars even when those allies are not so willing. No other country can achieve this so far. So US has been an exception and even so it hasn't always been the case.
