-P CM orders police not to block roads for President Mamnoon's visit
PESHAWAR: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Wednesday directed Peshawar’s Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) to provide President Mamnoon Hussain with all possible security without blocking any roads.
An Urdu daily earlier reported that the road going towards Qayyum Stadium would be closed as part of security arrangements for the president’s visit to Peshawar.
Public access: ‘Roads blocked to protect dignitaries, law enforcement offices’
“CM Khattak, who is in Islamabad to launch an Industrial Policy, called the CCPO, directing him not to block any roads as it will cause problems for the residents of the area,” Secretary of Information Abid Majeed toldThe Express Tribune.
Last week, a 10-month-old girl died when her family was unable to enter Civil hospital Karachi, due to security measures in place for the arrival of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and other leaders.
No VIP will be allowed to halt traffic in K-P, says Imran
Soon after the incident, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan announced he will make sure traffic is not halted for any VIP in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
“If a person is scared of the threats; [he or she] should sit at home, there is no need to come out,” he said, while addressing a gathering in Lodhran.
