No one is interested in coming to Pakistan: Zaka Ashraf – The Express Tribune

KARACHI: From day one Zaka Ashraf has been on a mission to revive international cricket in Pakistan despite the prevailing sensitive security situation of the country.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief had left for Kuala Lumpur for the International Cricket Council (ICC) annual conference with two main aims – to convince boards about touring Pakistan and talks with the Indian board about the revival of a bilateral series. However, his effort received a major blow when he was given the cold shoulder by the other boards who showed ‘no interest’ in touring the country in the near future.

Pakistan have not hosted a Test nation since 2009 after the attack on the Sri Lanka team bus and while the board came close to breaking the barren run in April when Bangladesh agreed to play a two-match series, intervention by a Dhaka court poured cold water over the plans.

Ashraf, who said he was in talks with other boards, sounded disappointed after meeting his counterparts in Kuala Lumpur.

“No one is interested in tours,” Ashraf told The Express Tribune. “All the boards point towards the lack of security in Pakistan.”

The PCB chief added that the municipal authorities’ act to bring down a wall at the PCB headquarters in Lahore also left a negative impact.

“Some officials also spoke about Gaddafi Stadium wall. They were carrying the stories and asked me how they could play amid serious security issues.”

The Gulberg town municipal corporation destroyed the wall saying it was built without its approval and on a green belt. The PCB, meanwhile, said that the wall was built in accordance with the ICC’s security standards and requirements.

Talks held with India

Meanwhile, the PCB chairman confirmed that talks were also held with the the Board of Control for Cricket in India but refused to share details.

The PCB is hoping to play a short series against India later this year as relations between the two boards improved.

The discussions in Kuala Lumpur were the continuation of talks that were held during Ashraf’s visit to India for the final of the Indian Premier League.

Play here or play there, Pakistan always will win..

We know it, they're not coming due to security concerns. Tell us something new Mr. Zaka Ashraf or you probably should tell this to your Jigri-mate Zardari to divert a few of his security protocols personnel to Intl. cricket teams' safety.

Look at the expression on his face

It's okay man I am sure Afghanistan would come or have even they refused ?

ROFL Afghanistan plays their matches IN PAKISTAN, all of their talent comes FROM PAKISTAN and all of their sponsors and equiptments comes FROM PAKISTAN.

Oh and here is India's image in the world:

Greig slams BCCI for lack of sporting spirit

Former England captain Tony Greig has slammed the BCCI for not adhering to the spirit of cricket and for pushing Twenty20 ahead of Tests for financial and for opposing the Decision Review System. Delivering MCC’s Colin Cowdrey Spirit of Cricket lecture at Lord’s, he said Tests were being

marginalised because the influential India was interested in “generating billions of dollars” by monopolising on the success of IPL and Champions League T20.
“To compound the problems, India has not only sold part of game to private interests but some of her administrators are seen to have a conflict of interest, which makes it more difficult for it to act in the spirit of the game.

“India's apparent indifference towards Test cricket and response towards some of the key issues, its attitude to the earlier ICC corruption inquiries, the rumoured corruption hanging over IPL and its role in the lack of due process in stopping former Australian prime minister John Howard being appointed vice-president of the ICC — are all examples of disappointing decisions,” he said.

“Much of the money in the game is controlled by BCCI because it controls enough votes to block any proposal put forward at ICC board meetings.”

At least he is trying...the chap must be lauded for that. He did everything to bring Bng for the short tour as well. Far better than Mr Ijaz ****

thats absolutely right. even lakhs of Indian professional have backed to India since 2009, since the recession as now they find bright future in India with growing Indian companies, even with little less salary. and the same was seen in case of Thailand, Indonesia, China, Vietnam, Brazil, Turkey, Malaysia etc type emerging economies whose high qualified migrants backed to their home countries as now western firms are just fighting for survival, need bail out at time to time. then why the same is not seen in case of Pakistan? why professionals/businessmen just want to leave for any reason? and why not if the rulers/politicians themselves want to keep a feet in Britain, do corruption and leave to Britain who may defend them no matter whether they have corruption case like on family members of Mr Gilani or even murder case on Mr Mush who has a superb life in UK :hitwall:

no matter whether businessmen/professionals live in pakistan or move to west, at least the rulers must always be loyal to the nation otherwise you will have made a society where people would do wrong and get whatever they can in pakistan and then go to western countries and become good :hang2:

I wish he would smile..

Things will change surely someday.

The poor fellow looks so morose.

Ha ha so funny, at least hes making an effort and working hard for his country and we'll continue to improve as long as good people like him keep working not like you who take pride in the successful efforts of terrorists to undermine Pakistani cricket.

He has nothing to be ashamed, he showed his guts by carrying on the efforts despite the odds, its people like you who should be ashamed for praising the efforts of the terrorists.

Well that might have something to do with Indian mentality. After all the Indian who posted this thread could have posted either of the two pictures on that link but chose this one because Indians get a sick sense of jollies out of terrorists targeting Pakistani cricket.

Mate, the picture has changed in the news item since I posted it. Now it shows a different picture than the one it showed earlier. Blame your news papers instead of always playing the victim card and complaiing about Indians..

May be they realised some frivolous Indian will be gloating over it and the others will be patting his back.
