Yes, it is mentioned that the Magi were the priests, and there were - exactly like the Vedic division - three other 'castes' besides. These were consolidated, by common consent, in the 19th century.

The similarities I knew from earlier, from comparing bits of the Avesta with the Rg Veda, but it remains awesome.
