On contrary now a days western invasion is responsible for bikini and mini clothes culture, wonder what was, and where is the original culture of India.

Yeasterday women did perdah, dressed properly, but like Abir said it was influence of Muslim invasions.
Today women wear tight and mini clothes and western influence takes the credit.

I always wonder what was the original culture of India and why it changed.

CULTURE IS NOT SOMETHING STAGNANT IT EVOLVES WITH TIME.

Are they giving tips or trying to drive people away ?

These are precautionary measures, it does not mean that if you do not follow something wrong will happen. Indians know where it will be right to wear sleaveless and where not, foreigners will be not be able to judge. Also Asim quoting from movie was funny, so movies define nation?
Precautions are generally overdone trying to avoid every possibility of untowards incidence.

Some of guidlines were not required.

India has people who can be extreamly mordern to extreamly conservative.

.
I went through the thread, what I noticed is that there is delibrate attempt to distort the guidelines. Do you think some of these who are very good at English will not understand the meaning, they very well do. They are full time finding way to bash India and how to distort any news. About Asim I am surprised by his recent post in past month, does not look like one I use to know or admire, Is your id hijacked?

There's nothing as original Indian culture. Culture is more like 'behti nadi'. Read my post again, I only said 'India hasn't been a conservative society for much of her history'. Culture evolves with time and many things influence a country's culture.

It's not about wearing tight or loose attire but society accepting individuals choice of clothing.

Dressed properly? You think Purdah= dressing properly?

You say that is how it was Yesterday ! What about the day before yesterday & the days before that? Where does culture begin? At the point of your choosing? At a point where it becomes convenient for your argument? Culture, like history is never stagnant as mentioned by our friend bhagathsingh. You cannot pretend that it started at a point of your choosing & that nothing existed before that. There were many days before Yesterday & there will be many days after today. Whatever we have will be our culture. It may borrow &/or be influenced by external sources but you can be reasonably sure we will make it our own.

I love how our subcontinent culture loves to show violence, death, gore a man with a bloody face with an AK 47 pictures behind rikshaws and cinemas but Kissing and wearing shorts are deemed bad....

what kind of a Sick and mental society we have become

What i think is Perdah + Dressing Properly = Muslim Culture

What you have asked has showed that you know nothing about perdah and you are confused in difference berween veil, hijab like many others.
When we talk about subcontinental women Burqa, veil doesnt come into play its middle eastern culture.
Remove your confusions.

Yes i said yesterday and in terms of history it generaly includes the day before yesterday and days before that and so on, i didnt start from the muslim invasion nor i ended there, try to understand first what i have asked then answer, dont try to act smart and say the same things comprehensively.

wonder what was, and where is the original culture of India.

Thats what i am keen to know.

Actually remove yours. I have not spoke about the veil, hijab or the burkha. They are not really relevant in the Indian context. I'm not responsible for your silly assumptions. If you want to talk about it in the context of Muslim culture, do so. What has that to do with the rest of Indian culture?

I don't need to act smart, you just need to stop pretending that you have even the remotest grasp of Indian culture. When your point gets thrashed, you choose to try & make it personal.
You yourself accept that purdah is part of Muslim culture & that's how it gained popularity in Northern India, so what was the culture/mode of dress before that period? Read about culture before that & then come back for a discussion. If there was a different culture before, then why can't there be a different one now?

In any case a lot of us don't care for your archaic notion of dress or cultural sense. You are best advised to keep it to yourself.

I guess people still have difficulties understanding difference between advice and restriction.

It's not confined to the subcontinent though.
