I was trying to say that not only hindu kingdoms but muslim kingdoms like the south indian sultanates like bijapur, bahmani and adil shahi dynasty etc used to give tribute to the Delhi Sultanate and Mughals. Afghanistan was not a purely Buddhist state during the muslim era. It had Zoroastrians, Hindus, Nuristanis and Buddhists. Afghanistan was a Buddhist majority state but after the death of Kanishka, hindus from India and the Persian empire perseucted buddhists for a long time which made us a minority in our own land and eventually remaining buddhist kingdoms like Ghorids converted to Islam. So i wouldnt say islam destroyed Buddhism.
