No company can surpass Huawei 5G tech in 2/3 yrs, but Huawei can surpass US chip tech if we want

Hey let's be real, of course there will be short term pain. But for Huawei to fall? You need to understand China is the largest telco market not the US. The smaller guys might use Android and Arm for exports, but what about the domestic market? China gov can now classify Android and Arm as national security threat, they won't annnounce it but it is bound to happen. It's not us banning their tech now, it's them banning it from us, no choice but to adapt right? Previously we are bound by open trade principles so we can't ban Android and Arm, now it's them telling us to ban them.

Chinese normally do things quietly. You won't know it until you are killed.


Actually apple will be the biggest victim here. Huawei will take over their market share in China.

As early as 2013, Huawei obtained the permanent license for ARMv8.

The release date of ARMv9 has not yet been determined.

By the time ARMv9 arrives, the initial 5G rollout would already be over and Huawei would have already grabbed significant marketshare ahead of Ericsson and Nokia. 5G base stations and other telecom equipment that have been installed are not going to be uninstalled.

I'll give you an example.

Currently, 40% of Europe's 4G network equipment are provided by Huawei. Shifting to 5G means they either upgrade the current Huawei-built 4G network infrastructure, or totally ditch them and switch to its rivals like Ericsson, Nokia and Samsung. The latter choice would cost the operators billions. And how much time?

The US government isn't implementing this ban because it's worried about some irrelevant smartphone sales. They don't want Huawei dominating 5G network equipment worldwide.

Lol. By the time ARMv9 comes out Huawei already got something much better. IMO Huawei only stuck with ARM coz it's the industry standard, but constrained by it not allowed to stray too far from it to maintain compatibility. Not like Huawei not capable of making something much better but not necessarily compatible with the existing ecosystem...
