Nirbhay will be backbone of ‘cold-start,’ say experts

O.K, I'll say as it is indians.

india look like a deeply, pathetically sad state with such kind of articles. Pakistan is seven times smaller, yet we keep hearing rhetoric after rhetoric from india when it comes to Pakistan--but no hardcore action. Because you know what? I know it, and you know it, india is not militarily capable to take on Pakistan.

It doesn't mean that indian military is weak. No. It is strong. But is it enough to just run-over a giant nuclearized military machine of Pakistan? Answer is : No way in living hell!

War is not about who killed how many. It is about costs and benefits calculation. The amount of punishment Pakistan will inflict on india is so, so devastating that it makes the "cost" side of war infinitely bigger than the "benefit" side of military confrontation with Pakistan (If there is a "benefit" to begin with).

Now, imagine, a third-party guy looking this situation. All I see is 7x bigger nation using hot air against smaller enemy again and again and again...but not doing anything. Do you have ANY idea how utterly laughable, pathetic, and miserable india comes out to be?

Just take this thread: Nirbhay will be back-bone of cold-start....

O.K, so a weapon system that is not even ready will be back-bone of india's threatening doctrine whereas at the same time, Pakistan has similar weapon system already deployed in service.

Oh my godddd...How pathetically saddddddddddd and miserableeeeeee india seems from here, sitting far from subcontinent.

Please my indian friends, don't do it.

We Turks are proud people. Historical warriors. Pure blooded honor based culture who have established vast empires, defeated previous super powers, adventured into unknown lands and conquered our challenges.

Coming from this perspective, when i see india and how indian media/you guys post stuff...I just cringe! Please, have self-respect for your own existence, indians.

Koi isko TTA bana do bhai................. :D

Pakistan already has Babur in service, further blocks are in development. CSD will have devastating consequences for India. Pakistan will use all tools if necessary to protect itself from hegemonic aggression.

So, what you think if you have all the tools. "To hum kya kangle bethe hain?"

Dont do that. Dont put your leg on which topic you know nothing.

See the tone of your message.

See how insecure you have become?

Posts like this really makes india and indians look miserable infront of honorable cultures like ours.

Honorable culture? Lol, still living in 18th Century bro.

BTW, no worry. We dont give a damn what the Turks thinks.

Don't mistake your superiority complex for honor.
You don't need to cry all over the place to show how honorable you are we can see just fine your "HONOR", take it to where people give a $hit.
If there is a nuclear war(which probably never will) India WILL have the upper hand.PERIOD.
India apart from Ballistic missiles has second strike capability to strike from seas, and though effectiveness of BMD is yet to be tested we have it and if not 100%, 50% of the missiles intercepted will give us enough time to dole out damage to finish off Pakistan indefinitely.
And I don't know about Babur's subsequent blocks but Nirbhay will be more advanced, God only knows how many times they have tested it to "claim" it ready for induction. Our missiles are tested regularly at higher frequencies than Pakistani missiles. That should give you an idea.

Why are you entertaining that little thing brother, what does he know about self respect when his own country is a mere bitch of NATO??What did those 'mighty,self-respecting and warrior' Turks do when the Israelis came and killed their citizens with impunity??Nothing!!Do they have to face two nuclear powers??No.So he will never be able to grasp the unique situation India finds itself into.
I got warning(strike) from mods (@Horus ) for this!! Silly!!!

In the short-term, experts believe that Nirbhay, along with its shorter-range supersonic sibling BrahMos, will form the backbone of the doctrine.

The usual hyping of the media and the actual truth is written in a short sentence at the end. Cold Start aimed at conflicts at western borders, where Brahmos is already operational and more capable to suit attacks on high value targets.
Nirbhay on the other side is aimed at conflicts with China mainly and targets at extended ranges, where it can play out it's real advantages.

.
To implement Cold Start type doctrine Brahmos is the best option and it is also the primary option too of India as it is more capable to take out targets which could bring down Nirbhay CM as it is sub sonic and even good advance AAA can bring it down.

Nirbhay will be backbone of ‘cold-start,’ say experts
Dinakar Peri

DRDO India's first indigenously designed and developed long range sub-sonic cruise missile Nirbhay.

Nirbhay, India’s first long-range subsonic cruise missile, which was test-fired on October 17, can be a game-changer in India’s strategic calculus, defence analysts and strategic experts feel.

Capable of flying at a tree-top altitude for over 1,000 km, Nirbhay can carry out surgical strikes and thus back up India’s “cold start” doctrine that envisages limited, precise strikes across the border. The introduction of nuclear weapons in the subcontinent has virtually stalled a conventional Indian response to Pakistan’s cross-border terrorism.

“India is confronted with the problem of developing a strategy to counter Pakistan’s ‘first-strike’ and continuing proxy war,” says Dr. Monika Chansoria, Senior Fellow at the Centre for Land Warfare Studies. She points out that Pakistan cites “India’s conventional military threat” to maintain its own offensive strategic posture and India will have to develop a response to this.

In this context, “cold start” has been put forward as an offensive doctrine by the Indian strategic establishment. Though “officially denied,” its presence is widely acknowledged in strategic circles.

In the event of an Indian offensive, a volley of missiles flying low can effectively take out key command and control centres, blunting the resistance to the advancing armoured columns.

“The successful indigenous development of Nirbhay cruise missile will fill a vital gap in the war-fighting capabilities of our armed forces,” Avinash Chander, Director-General, Defence Research and Development Organisation, said after the test launch on October 17.

Defence analyst Rahul Bedi observes that Nirbhay will be a force multiplier to the in-waiting “cold start” doctrine, but the doctrine itself is a non-starter as of now for lack of critical assets such as artillery, armour and helicopters. The Army has to fast-forward acquisition and induction of these platforms.

In the short-term, experts believe that Nirbhay, along with its shorter-range supersonic sibling BrahMos, will form the backbone of the doctrine.
