lol qatarileaks. If the news is sponsored by the government and given by the government. Why calling it leaks?

Whats the point of building a faraway naval base without a blue water navy with large warships in quantity and stationing some boats ?Turkey also doesn't depend on the gulf sea route for its oil like india or china,so economic aspect is missing.Looks like a power projection attempt without any real basis and waste of money.Turkey already has hostile relations with Greece,Syria,Egypt,Armenia,Iraq, plus kurdish areas in iraq, syria and unstable relations with Iran. Now they want to create rivalry with Saudis too by supporting qatar?Looks like mindless geopolitical strategy.

Absolutely not. By power projection its a common misunderstanding that many in public sees the term as show of flag only. However, Turkey has intense interests and intelligence acquisitions born out of Turkish investments, humanitarian activities and political engagements in Gulf and Africa regions. “Faraway” naval base without a blue water navy is also a pointless accusation. First, one does not necessarily need a blue water fleet to maintain overseas presence. Many NATO navies that possess a small, littoral fleet have been doing that for over decades. And Turkey, excluding NATO and CTF deployments, has always had at least one frigate deployed in Gulf and Indian Ocean region. Building a base itself takes years. Currently planned Turkish military presence overseas are not for today but for future. Turkish naval programs work in conjunction with these base establishments as we see an increase on the number of long-hull logistical support vessels and as well as government decision to plan the second LHD procurement. Turkey, unlike many of great powers with certain exceptions, is experienced in naval diplomacy and has now learned the importance of maintaining foreign permanent military presence within the limits of the country’s capabilities.

On a political scale, trust me my friend, rivalry of Saudis to Turkey can only have a cockroach effect when compared to what Turkey has been dealing for over decades, don’t take the Erdogan-era only for comparison. They are not organized, they lack a sense of statehood, they are inexperienced in utilizing certain state apparatus to mobilize their foreign policy goals. They actions won’t just take further than supporting PKK.

With 79 cents in the treasury, Turkey carried out the campaign to free the Turkish folks in Cyprus!! At the height of the Ottoman Empire ther were hardly 30m folks!!! It's a matter of genes in the DNA....

Even with a blue water navy, Indiia failed to stop Chinese naval presence in Sri Lanka, 50 miles away from India, or in Maldives, 250 miles away....

A great move in the right direction!!! If you're an ally be like one from the Ehl-I Iman....
