So their going to make the same mistake as the USN and introduce an Independence-type design? Well, at least we don't need to fear their navy anymore. Seriously though what's with the desire for tri-hull designs? Is there a problem with the traditional shape of warships or are they not futuristic looking enough. The US Independence class is a nightmare, for its own country and thankfully the Navy seems more committed to the Freedom variant instead. The LCS program isn't bad, modular ships can be quite flexible and adaptable when used right, its just that we aren't using them right.

I am sure that it's just a design contest or something like that. No one is going to build trimarans as warships. This issue was discussed a few years ago and was rejected.

Russia has always armed their ships with as many weapons as possible. For example the Slava class cruiser is armed with 16 Supersonic P-500 anti ship missiles plus 64 S-300 missiles. Add this on top of 6 Ak630 CIWSs plus 24 RBU 6000 anti submarine rockets. This new Russian ship class will be no doubt be armed heavily.
