Passive Armour is used. The net used here was used before by American forces in Iraq and Afghanistan to reduce the damage caused by UATM/ATGM. Russians learn things later. It seems that they considered this over destroying large numbers of this kind of IFVs in Syria.

Bashar forces tried it BTW :lol:

This armor is effective against RPG's and other tandem charge warheads as it detonates the projectile before it can make contact with the actual armored vehicle itself.

RPG's and Tandem charge projectiles are the most common form of AT weapons available to insurgents.

It helps dispersing some power of the charge of the projectile before it reaches the main armor even if i's a traditional one. Cheap and effective.

Its called a "cage armor" or slat etc.... here is one by HIT,Pak:

It's not only the cage, but also additional armor as it appears in the picture.

From the pic... seems some armour upgrade on the non protected side skirts.. in short nothing ground breaking..

This IFV is made for fighting and has nothing to do with horny teenagers. Isn't that right? :coffee:

But even still were I the opposing force - I'd consider it an insult to be killed by a beast so ugly that it makes me cringe - I'd much rather be pumped a magazine into by the likes of the Turkish IFVs or even the US Bradley's - Sleek & Sexy ! :D

I love Russian arms, I think they the most good looking. And if you must choose a pretty APC to get killed by, this is what I recommend for you::coffee:

@Armstrong
BTW, I love Russian arms by their look not performance, they are disappointing in wars.
