You
should be at a loss of words. Not because of your ignorance, it is understandable for Pakistanis to attribute everything wrong in the world to Modi, but because of your lack of interest in making the effort to learn more.
Modi was elected in 2014. The NHFS being quoted is from 2015-16.
When the
next NHFS is conducted in 2021-22, the result of Modi's policies and execution ability will come to fore. So far, his social policies and governance delivery have been widely acknowledged to be as very good.
In his first term (5 years) he has:
- Opened over 290 million bank accounts for the poorest Indians. Resulting in a dramatic jump in India's overall financial inclusion.
- Built nearly 100 million toilets, resulting in a massive jump in reducing open defecation and its resultant health and environmental benefits
- Increased rural electrification, nearly 100% villages electrified in India. Caveat - this does not mean 100% houses electrified. This program was meant to bring electricity infrastructure to the village level. The program to bring electricity to each house in each village is on now
- Started crediting subsidies directly in people's bank accounts (which even the poorest now have thanks to point#1) which has reduced low-level corruption
- LPG cooking connections to over 80 million families who were relying on kerosene lamps, cow dung cakes or firewood for cooking resulting in major health costs
There is much much more work to be done but I can definitively say his last 5 years have led to more social development and real change than 20 years under previous governments.
