Nepal's pro-Hindu party on Friday asserted that no one could stop the country from turning back into a Hindu nation and accused politicians of advocating secularism under the influence of the West.

"No one can stop from turning the country into a Hindu state," claimed Kamal Thapa, the president of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal (RPP-N), while addressing a rally of about 10,000 people in Kathmandu. The rally was organised on the conclusion of a nationwide 10-day-long 'rath yatra' for reinstating Nepal as a Hindu nation.

The party concluded the 1,900-km-long Mechi–Mahakali Rath Yatra that began on December 25 from far-east to far-west region of the country. He claimed that the political leaders have been advocating secularism under the influence of western money by misleading the people. Nepal was converted into a secular state from a Hindu nation in 2008 through a Parliament declaration following the abolition of monarchy from the country.

"The new constitution should ensure the identity of a Hindu nation for Nepal," Thapa said.

"When there are more than 40 Muslim countries and over 70 Christian countries, why can't Nepal become a Hindu state in today's world which is home to over 1.8 billion Hindus," asked Thapa. He also asked political parties to make serious efforts to promulgate the new constitution within the stipulated date of January 22.

The RPP-N organised the nationwide 'rath yatra' to exert pressure to reinstate the nation as a Hindu state. He also demanded a provision be made to ban cow slaughtering in the new constitution.

No body in the world wants a Pagan country except the pagans ofc.The westerners hate Hindu pagans more than muslims. No wonder they are sponsoring missionary movements in both the countries.

Its not one party. Most of Nepalese want the state to become Hindu Rashtra again.

Why would they run missions in nations which even kill Polio workers ?

Both Christianity & Islam have conversion on their mind all the time.

Any sources/links for that @jha ji??

I thought most Nepalese preferred a 'secular' Nepal (Hindu+Buddhist) which is why the top 3 parties in Nepal are all Left-wing.
[Nepali COngress:-Left-liberal, the other 2 -Communists]

EDIT1:- & by the way the RPP(N) which has made this demand got only 2.79% of the popular vote in Nepal in the Nepalese Constitutional Elections 2013.

Polio workers are involved in other activities too. No western country has the balls to interfere in religious affairs of Muslim countries.

You Hindus love your western masters and even worship them. Many Hindus don't know that it was only not due to Gandhi and Nehru India become a secular country. It was really because of British pressure. The same British had no problem with an Islamic state ie Pakistan. Go figure.

Secular..? Why do you think Modi gets such a welcome in Nepal..? And protests erupt when he cancels visits to Janakpuri..?

People are feeling cheated by this secular label. Just wait for few years and watch. Even Modi did not mention "secular" in his speech.

Oh and BTW I live very close to Nepal border. So have very good view of situations there.

Those who know the least say it the loudest.

Why would any other country interfere in religious affairs of Muslim nation - they are doing a splendid job by themselves !

BTW the regime in KSA stays afloat thanks to US.

India became secular because India wanted it, what has the Muslim nation achieved next door ?

TBH I though Nepalese were quite secular after I saw the vote-shares of the Communist Parties in the recent elections :P .

Looks like that info. may be outdated by now.

Very good. Let there be atleast one Hindu country on this world.

Nepal was,is and always will be a Dharmic nation just like her elder sister India. The roots of our cultures are based on the principle of Dharma. So it doesn't matter if India or Nepal in this regard maintains her secular stature in front of the world the truth is that the foundation of both these countries are based on the Principles of Dharma:coffee:!!
