Nepal logs in with Chinese Internet, disconnects India's monopoly

Upset with what? :cheesy: You? I'm just bored with TT rhetorics. You are comparing apples and oranges, AIIB is one thing while BRI is another.

Don't tell me what I already told you. India has territorial disputes through the region which BRI goes. I guess even Chinese don't know what are the advantages a country have by joining BRI. And your answer has it all.

 Yeah right. India should join because there is no such thing as BRI anywhere in the world. BRI is a thing which they don't know what exactly but fall in line because it's a Chinese initiative?
No thank you.

Sour grapes.

Like I said, India would have been happy to join if not for the disputed territory issue.

Now India had no choice but to be locked out of this initiative which has no parallel in the world in terms of scale. And watch as their neighbours move into an interconnected future, which India won't be a part of.

.
Funny, every country will try to have multiple point of connections to avoid prime time failure due to natural disaster or any other unplanned emergency. China is not an enemy of Nepal, infact I would not be surprised if same link is also carried to India. Many countries connect with various global fiber networks to make a fail safe ring.

Some people portray everything as a countries loss or other countries gain, broaden your horizons world is much more connected on various levels even after differences.

Don't assume things for us. (Sour grapes for something no one knows :D)

It's pathetic you don't have an answer to one simple question. Rather than some buckshot replies, it'll be good if you cut to the point.

I'm still waiting for your reply on why India should "join" BRI, firstly it which passes through disputed territory while you raise flags on every construction that happened in AP. So, you can't respect our territorial issues, while we should respect yours. Such hypocrites are not tolerated.

From strategic point of view, India deciding not joining is a better outcome for China. But, if India wanted to join, China would not say no for the sake of maintaining openness. But, India deciding not to join willingly and missing out on the world's largest development and connectivity scheme (about 10 times larger than that of Marshall Plan) solves the problem.

I do not see China complaining too much, because, with or without the BRI, India is a market for China as much as India's scale allows. In terms of connectivity, India does not offer any particular advantages; China has already laid down all the connections deep into Western Europe via Central Asia and Russia.

India is just being India. Extremely short in vision and destined to be a failure on a grander scale.

So, you are saying all those hues and cries you made why India is missing out the golden chance. Both through diplomats, are actually Chinese trying to say "No India is not welcome"/"we don't need you at all"? Come on that's straight BS.

And how's your great access to Europe going on? Sure you reach Russia they are in a vulnerable position now and Russia is not particularly in a position to bargain. But I don't think you will have some huge advantage outside Asia. EU is not particularly happy about BRI. Although they send delegations. That's why you are trying to get close to the members, like Greece. Buying out some ports around the region.
As of now, BRI is just a pan - Asia forum. No Europe, not much from the Americas. And struggling in Africa. It'll be years before any changes will be noticed. If everything works as planned. And with the NK and US breathing down your neck. I don't see this taking off anytime soon.

As for India joining the bandwagon, we will simply wait:coffee:. Evaluates all the benefits, we are not desperate for joining BRI. We still get investment from Chinese, and even the BRI routes are not in Chinese control which makes it an open route where anyone can ship.

No crying, really. Because India does not offer any geostrategic advantage to the BRI other than being a potential market. But, with or without the BRI, India is a market to take advantage of.

And how's your great access to Europe going on?

Going great. Increasing on yearly basis. Last year, more than 2000 freight trains traveled between China and Europe. Think of it; China's trade volume was $4.6 trillion last year.

We do not need their happiness but cooperation. They will whine and cry but, in the end, money talks. They join not out of love, but out of self-interest. Greece port is important as a trade hub. In fact, under China's management, Piraeus Port has become one of Europe's top 5 ports.

BRI is a Eurasian project. There are massive communication ad connection lines being established (including three main rail lines up into London), but, it is still in building stage. China values Western Europe as a market for finished goods, and Eastern/Central Europe as a market for infra. It is exactly what is happening on the ground.

Americas are not on the immediate radar of the BRI.

It'll be years before any changes will be noticed. If everything works as planned. And with the NK and US breathing down your neck. I don't see this taking off anytime soon.

Too much pessimism. Strategy is achieving one's objectives under unfavorable conditions. The world is a tough place. The virtue is to survive and get stronger in such a world. US can breath as hardly as it can, China has its own plans and goes about doing them.

India has time. It can wait until the Ganges becomes clean and keep evaluating. Maybe next election cycle. But, for us, time is precious when it comes to development. BRI is not simply building roads, it is more about building and connecting systems. You are in it or you are not in it. But, China is less desperate about India's joining than India is about joining.

So, I guess, both sides do not care much.

And sure, it's good for both India and China. At the time, our exports are increasing too. Without BRI. And that's what I have been saying. Why do you need BRI really? And why should India join?

You are simply talking about trade. BRI is about investment and trade. Rather China's loan spree as it looks.

And the time for? You are just ranting at Indian system. While Entire south Asia follows democracy like India. There will be elections, who are you mocking really? You think people will relocate or move on just like some commi nation? Here there are rights and property is not owned by a party. Good luck dealing with democracies.

So how come there are democracies in the developed world, while India has more poverty than the entire continent of Africa? At the very bottom of the world?

Maybe because India is more of a castocracy. You have rights as long as you are not a Dalit, a woman or a Muslim. And now you are going to claim you are a Muslim.

So, how's the killing of Falun Gongs going? Are they still dropping dead after released from Prison?
How's your CCP target practice on Tibetans going on? Such a perfect country is China.

Slow down princess, China is not some first world developed country. You are not rich yet and have a lot of income disparities, there are millions of poor people in China. Also having largest slum dwellers.

And India has more poor people than Africa? Don't make figure out of your rear. Not to forget there are more people than there and limited area and resources. Guess it's empty tanks make more noise.

You are right, China having a GDP per capita of over $8000 makes us a poor developing country. That's completely correct, and I've never said otherwise.

But India is in a whole different league:

BBC News - More poor in India than in Africa

Couldn't get any older statistics? almost 8 years old news.
GDP of $8k doesn't make you rich. You are doing nothing but pot calling kettle black. Please go check your Gini index.

And your point being?

The 2015 analysis is based on the last available data from India, Alkire said, and added that as per poverty estimation of seven south Asian countries, Afghanistan is the poorest, followed by India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan and Sri Lanka.

Nobody cares if India joins or not.

China is publicly offering India the opportunity to join, to show everyone in the region that it is India who is being petty and uncooperative.

lol I think India knows what its doing. Joining OBOR in its current form would be like accepting Kashmir in its current state. That is detrimental to India.
