Hello guys...I need an advice from you people regarding an apartment we are buying. We have already booked one last month. Below our apartment lies a gym...and below that will be a swimming pool. Will there be any problem having a house directly over a gym/fitness club like people play loud music, work on the treadmill, through dumbbells on the floor etc? I thought these will not be an issue as I would stay above the gym but not below. But I have recently come across reports of the above said problems. Should I move another floor up? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Well if you spend most of the time in the gym it wont be such a problem and you'll get fit too. On a serious note to the above mentioned problems, I dont know :sarcastic:

For me I can adjust maybe. But for mom and dad, I'm afraid it might become unbearable. Even for me...on weekends if I want to take rest...it might become a major issue I guess...When we are pumping our lifetime investments into something, why to adjust?

If someone can share their opinion...It would be much appreciated.

Your concerns are valid lets hope someone who has lived in such an apartment responds.

If you really think that those sorts of things will happen on a daily basis.
I'd suggest you move up to another floor or another place really.

Yeah. These are my concerns. Maybe I'd move one floor up. Since I have paid 50% of the amount as down payment , another place is not an option for me now. And I like those apartments as well. So I might consider moving another floor up if anybody can verify my concerns.

yes it will be a problem. you would have to invest in thick coir carpet to drown out noise.

talk about it with the builders and the management. congrats !!!

Gyms have sealed windows which are sound proof too.

I do not think it should be a problem. I presume your flat is on the 3rd / 4th floor.

If the doubt lingers, move up further- you'll get more sunlight and shall put a floor or two between you & the Gym

Which city is this ? If its NCR I could help with further details .

My apartment is on the 2nd floor with 5 floors total and 14 flats per floor. Gym on the first floor and swimming pool on the ground floor. Most gyms have loud music playing and generally the speakers will be attached to the ceiling. Here, gym's ceiling would be my floor. So the concern. Location is hyderabad.

Yep! It may create some problems. I suggest you buy another apartment away from the clubhouse/gym.

My apartment is about 100m away from the clubhouse/gym/swimming pool but I still get a little disturbance especially when there are parties at the club/swimming pool!! Jeeez! :fie:

......Or you can go gatecrash the binge and be part of the disturbance!! :D

Thank you sir.
If you dont mind, could you advise a bit more. It's a 5 floor building. Should I opt for third floor? Not top nor bottom. I have to dogs as well...so top floors are not preferable IMO.

3rd shd be ok. i have lived in apts most of my life and when someone plays loud music (as gyms do) it can be a nuisance.

Oh thanks bro for your input. I mostly would be moving a floor up...i.e.,3 rd floor on a 5 floor building

Depends on the type of party. :D
If it's a retirement function of some uncle, then :disagree:. If it's a kind of a b'day bash of some chick, then why not. :azn:

Thanks a lot for your time and replies sir. I'll change to the third floor. Just praying it's still available.

is it a new apartment block or are people already living with a functional gym people frequent ? generally, I've noticed these in house apartment gyms aren't too frequented because :
- not everyone works out
- these sorts of gyms are exclusive to residents only

so unless it's a health freak community, probably not too much to worry about

and if it does become a problem there will be others on the same floor who would have a problem too, nothing a small complaint/request won't fix because it is paid for, maintained and for exclusive use by the residents.

good luck
