Need advice to buy a new car

Toyota Prius Hybrid?
Steer well clear....you will run into huge problems if Electrics fuk up,which they do..and you can get same fuel economy with modern diesels...

citroens i like, but same problem..Mechanically good, but too much reliance of electronics which if Fukd up,nobody can fix...
But saying that,i had vintage Citroen BX and last year i had Citroen C5 diesel, which i crashed and destroyed...and both were the best cars i had..
My Citroen C5 diesel did 650 miles in one tank......

Good i didnt recommend you Aixum 500 diesel ;)

I have used Citroen for some time - really like that car...

Before opening thread in this forum I was thinking to buy Citroen.. but now I am tilted towards Polo

Only 10+ years old polo/golf can be available for £5000.

Those recommending Hyundai and KIA.... seriously, you guys have no idea/respect of quality!

Have you all not considered that, small cars will be more expensive as compare to their larger counterparts, for the very same reason,,, Zakii is looking for?

With the current budget/time, Zakii will either land at crap or a big machine than his defined parameters.

Actually the reason why I am not looking for very expensive car is that my Insurance is going to be very expensive. I am going to pay thousands of pounds in insurance as well and if I buy expensive car it's going to further raise the insurance of that car.

I agree that I will not buy Hyundai or KIA as I have never liked those cars by the looks (and honestly never tried myself, only sat in Hyundai when my uncle was using it about 12 years ago and no driving experience on both cars)

and the cars in UK are very cheap in comparison to Pakistan and trust me you could buy a reasonable car for only 1000 - 1500 pounds as well. £3500 is a good amount to buy a reasonable car and I would consider spending about £4000 there was such a lucrative offer... not more than that right now

Not a great fan of Vauxhall and after seeking advice from Hyperian - I have no intentions to buy one any time soon

I hope you can maintain the car as well if you are that desperate like me get the 1995 ford escort for over 14 years and not a single part of the car is replaced it stand there in the rain, freezing cold, hail and it is fine! Sorry for getting off topic but it is very reliable and maintainable that is my car. :D it only broke down2 times during its 14 year span :)

BTW, I am very impressed to hear the mileage you get from Citroen C5.. I might have to research about it. It's so good if you could get 650 miles in one go... I used to prefer petrol cars for unknown reason

I would prefer car models earlier than 2007/08

Thanks for your advice, I would see why you like that 95 model

Just buy a regular motorbike Zakii ! Low on mileage, doesn't need any space and you won't have to break the bank to buy it ! If the relatives give you a funny look tell them that you have a 'Buttt' and you're not afraid to use it ! :D

thats why i said 2005 and later..

Vauxhall are one of the best value for money and every workshop can fix them, being one of the most used cars in UK...and abundant supply of spares...

but yes if you are not a rash driver and good at keeping your car maintained...citroen diesels are a good choice..provided it has full service history and no electrical problems..
Citroens are not for people who never lift the bonnet...mind you...

I did go to Scotland and back in one tank..covering 650+ miles....
in daily use..my C5 still gave me 600 miles in one tank...

Motorcycle is a dangerous ride in UK or may be I prefer riding a motorbike in Pakistan only.

C5 comes in Hatchback and state both..
But mind you..under the bonnet most Citroen are actually Peugeot, that includes C5...
so look into Peugeot 3xx series....
they are more famous and reliable than Citroen....

This car looks good for my needs and I have a cousin who I believe is using a similar model and satisfied with its performance

Peugeot 207 1.4 XE 5DR 2009

and going to check some Polo models and decide soon. I am hoping to buy a car in the second week of September so lets see

A big no to anything FRENCH. Sit inside a Citroen, and look at the dashboard very carefully, it will feel like a toy car. When did French last time make a working car? Quadruple YAKKKKK

Peugeot 207 is a decent car, however, again look at the dashboard and memorize it. Then go sit in a German car (minus BMW), now compare both in your mind :D

Besides sitting in Peugeot, you'll feel as if you're an Egyptian. (no disrespect intended to Egyptians)

Do you remember the old song "walk like an Egyptian," modern version would be "drive like an Egyptian - habibi....."

:D

French are ONLY good at:
Vines : Good genetics of Yeast.
Blondes: Good genetics and a whole lot more! :D

Cars the only choices are:

American : Raw power
German: Technology and safety
Swedish: Safety
Italian: Good ones have all been acquired by Germany :D
British: Very few choices left.

Jeeps: Only one choice here, Range Rover (now Indian) :D
