NDA already leading towards the majority: CNN NEWS 18

Thanks for the info.

So to form 2/3rd DNA would need others...

What is the composition of the Other parties? Left? Right? Centre?
The left stands decimated , they have won only one seat in Kerala. They are as good as history.

The remainder are mostly regional parties operating at state level with virtually no national footprint. Some tried contesting at National level & failed.

The Right & Right inclined parties are a part of the NDA. The others are mostly Centrist parties. Horse trading has yet to begin & Indian politicians can be very very persuasive .

A healthy opposition means a healthy democracy... anyhow, it is the will of the people....

Even Congress tried a little right bend/religious credentials... but sadly for them.. it didn't pan out any better...

I guess mood in India is towards national identity and other ideas have little market space...

Politicians? Businessmen my friend...

We shall see what kind of shape the Modi 2 term takes... with this strong mandate he can implement a far reaching broader agenda if he so chooses...

Thanks for your kindness for educating me!

Frankly there is little that is wrong with the Congress , it needs to smell the coffee and shed family leadership. There are ( some) good young leaders who have no space to grow. The party is stifling itself .

Today, most voters have gone to the BJP/NDA simply because they saw no workable alternative. What was on offer was a rag tag combination of regional parties with no national agenda or experience. They got together at the last minute with only one agenda - to do away with BJP / Modi.

The man on the street saw that these parties never were together & would fall apart post elections. Rahul Gandhi has established himself as the friendly neighbourhood jester who most times does not know if he is coming or going. His mother is unacceptable for more reasons than one.

Yes, India too like most nations of the world is experiencing a wave of nationalism which is good provided it is channelled in the right direction.

As regards healthy opposition ,its hardly ever healthy. We see it in Great Britain, US & elsewhere. Most opposition parties oppose things for the sake of opposition with no viable alternatives.

Modi is on the blower at the moment addressing his "Bhagats".

Congress in UP is only getting 5%.
While BJP is getting more than 50%.

Republic TV is saying that the Muslims have voted overwhelming for the BJP.
Wow the scarifies lambs are selecting their own slaughterer. Amazing.

Hah? There were widespread communal riots in India between Muslims and Hindus in a large part of Indian history under Congress. If the Muslims of India are voting for BJP then I think it's probably a subtle message: Don't target us, we are not against you. Indian Muslims HAVE to hate Pakistan to stay alive.

As for the current election results, I had said before in this forum I don't care who wins; it was a 'toss up' for me. Modi is much more likely to make grand compromises with Pakistan than Congress ever could or would. It was a Musharraf in Pakistan who would go to the extent of LoC = IB solution, and so it will be a Modi in India.

On the other hand, unless Modi scales back the ultra Hindutva culture, the divides within India won't be good for India itself. Large hearts and inclusiveness make a nation great--yes, I am 'liberal'.

As for India and Pakistan--- Pakistanis will eat the proverbial grass--and have eaten that for decades--to be a match for India. So no fears there. Plus, if you can see the global stage, even Russia is open to Pakistan. Any Indian adventure will cost India a lot. Perhaps several points in Indian GDP...much to the delight of the Chinese and the Western weapon sellers.

Finally, if Indians REALLY think that Modi got an upper hand over Pakistan in Feb. 2019 then a very sorry, pathetically deluded bunch they are. Makes you wonder about much else of other Indian credibilities...
