NEW DELHI: Just days after the Supreme Court made it mandatory for the NationalAnthem to be played at movie theatres+ , it was faced with a petition that sought to make the Anthem mandatory before the start of court proceedings. The top court dismissed the plea, saying its order should not be stretched.
The petition was filed by a lawyer, who sought the direction of the apex court to have the National Anthem played at the start of proceedings in courts across the country.
The Supreme Court's order mandating the National Anthem be played before the start of every movie had attracted wide attention. The court had said it was theeveryone's duty to stand+ and pay respect when the Anthem is being played.
