@Hyperion Education time...why is Zia considered so damaging for Pakistan?

This is what Jinnah stood for;

You are free; you are free to go to your temples, you are free to go to your mosques or to any other place or worship in this State of Pakistan. You may belong to any religion or caste or creed — that has nothing to do with the business of the State.

WHen Zia and his extreme islamic(deemed unislamic actually) laws and ways came in, the violence and persecution against minorities increased BIG Time.

Am on my mob right now so will write more later.

Yeah, most of the issues with minorities being targetted, terrorists etc, is indirectly because of him.

i agree that in the end he was a greedy man but if ur talking about adding quran surah's in the syllabus then i'll say he did the right thing as albert einstein says " Science without religion is lame and religion without science is blind" who knows allah may forgive him because of doing this

He used Islam, The Holy Qur'an for personal gain. He was the extreme tyrrant, dictator.

His law's were highly unislamic.

Now, what happens with him is upto Allah(swt), but adding verses doesnt justify what he did or made him any better IMO

Again, its not upto me....

Busy as a bee man, training to be a chartered accountant...NOT FUN!!

Actually I agree with you..adding verses from Koran is all well and good..but piety must flow through one's actions and the outcome of said actions..otherwise we make liars out of our words and our deeds..still he seems to be revered as well as hated in equal part.

Let me give you a little snippet..there may be those who won't appreciate it but what the hell..in the late 20s..Mahatma Gandhi was adamant that politics should never be separated from religion..mind you he was tolerant but never secular..Jinnah sahib reportedly took great umbrage to this..since back then he was perhaps the most secular leader in the Indian sub-continent. Whatever happened later and whatever Jinnah's views about Pakistan were is obviously not for me to argue upon..ain't got no right. But as he stood in those early days..he was the loudest and most heard voice of reason and modernity.

البقاء لله . ربنا يرحمه ويدخله فسيح جناته

My grandpa passed away Tuesday 4th June, 6 A.M at the age of 108 years. Please pray for his better place in Jannat. I was very busy, during past couple of days, with his funerals and charity work as per his last wish so was away from internet completely. IDK if I should open a new thread, so just posting it here..
