Narendra Modi ideal candidate for PM’s post: Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal

Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal said that Gujarat CM Narendra Modi is the ideal candidate for PM from NDA in 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
CHANDIGARH: The Shiromani Akali Dal on Wednesday joined the Modi-for-PM bandwagon with party president Sukhbir Singh Badal saying Narendra Modi is a suitable candidate for the 2014 polls.
"SAD will support whoever BJP chooses as its PM candidate," he told TOI. When asked if he thought Modi was a suitable candidate, Sukhbir said, "Modi is certainly a suitable and ideal candidate. Modi is a good leader. He has done tremendous work in development."
Modi is close to the Badals. In 2011, he had attended the bhog ceremony after the death of Badal Sr's wife, Surinder Kaur. Sukhbir is said to be a votary of Modi's brand of "development politics" and a large part of SAD's win in the Punjab assembly polls last year is attributed to Sukhbir's promoting the development plank.

On JD(U)'s objection to Modi, Sukhbir said, "I don't comment on what JD(U) does, but we will be always with BJP."

Shatrughan backs Modi for PM post
Bharatiya Janata Party Lok Sabha member from Patna Sahib Shatrughan Sinha
said here on Monday that he completely agreed with senior party leader
Yashwant Sinha who had said that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA)
should project Narendra Modi as its prime ministerial candidate for the 2014
general election.
Yashwant last week said Modi’s projection could swing the party’s fortune
considerably. Therefore, he should be named the NDA’s prime ministerial
candidate, even at the cost of breaking alliance with their ruling partner in Bihar,
the Janata Dal-United (JD-U). “If some people leave, many others will join the
NDA,” Yashwant had said in an oblique reference to Nitish Kumar.
Shatrughan, who was in Patna to attend an anti-tobacco mission programme on
World Cancer Day, said he agreed with Yashwant. “By projecting Vajpayeeji in
advance, the BJP had gained immensely. It can happen again if we decide on the
leadership issue early,” said the actor-turned-politician, who had served as Union
Health and Shipping Minister in Vajpayee’s Cabinet.
Shatrughan’s assertion comes on a day when party chief Rajnath Singh made a
last-ditch attempt to put a “blanket ban” on BJP leaders airing their views
publicly on Modi.

Can Narendra Modi-fy India's economy? Experts say you bet!

Here's what analysts have said on Modi in the recent past:

Arvind Sanger, Managing Partner, Geoshpere Capital Management: Frankly, a Modi-led government will be positive for the market.

Sanjeev Prasad, Senior Executive Director & Co-Head, Kotak Institutional Equities: If there is something in favour of the BJP in state assembly elections, the market will take that positively."

UBS: Based on our discussions with investors, markets are positively inclined towards Mr Narendra Modi-led BJP and less so towards the Congress, despite some course correction in policies recently by the latter.

CLSA: The Indian stock market's greatest hope is the emergence of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as the BJP's prime ministerial candidate.

Today, Goldman Sachs raised its investment stance on India to 'marketweight'. Among the reasons cited, Modi factor was on the top of its list.
