In Madison Square Garden, Dubai, now SAP Center and soon in Wembley. Who is holding these events? On state expense?, Sharma added.

Sharma also took dig at Modi getting emotional while meeting officials of Facebook at the Facebook Town Hall and said that Modi's claim that his mother cleaned dishes to make both ends meet was not true.

"I have got this probed, it's not the case," the Congress leader said, adding that they were not an affluent family but at the same time they were not that poor that they had to work at somebody else's home to make a living.

He said the Prime Minister's claim that he sold tea in his younger days should also be probed since it's wrong.

"His father ran a canteen. When did he (Modi) sell tea," he asked.

“PM says his mother used to clean utensils in other people's homes. Sadly this is a lie, he is insulting his mother,” Sharma said.

''PM Modi did not even invite his mother to swearing-in ceremony. So instead of crying abroad he should be a responsible son,” Sharma was quoted as saying by ANI.

“When the Prime Minister makes allegations, it would be worth a while to introspect and reflect of reality of his 14 months of governance,” Manish Tewari of Congress also said while speaking to reporters here.

Modi, while addressing the Indian diaspora at the SAP Centre in San Jose, had accused Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra of making “crores” of money.

“In our country it doesn’t take much for allegations to come up against politicians--someone made 50 crores, someone’s son made 250 crores, (someone’s) daughter made 500 crores, (someone’s) damaad (son-in-law) made 1000 crores,” PM Modi said without naming anybody.

“Is the country not disappointed (with corruption in India?” he asked the crowd.

“Is there not anger against corruption. I am standing before you. Tell me if there is any allegation against me.”

“Today, after 16 months, I want a certificate from you. Have I kept my promise? Am I working hard, day and night?” he asked.

While Modi’s reference to sons and daughters of politicians being corrupt is seen as a reference to culture of corruption in the country, the reference to son-in-law is seen as a barb at alleged land deals entered into by Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra with the some state governments.

Reacting to Congress' attack on Modi, BJP spokesman Sambit Patra said, “It is unfortunate that a senior politician like Anand Sharma is dragging the PM's mother in petty politics.”

It was given him as a present and he is on record saying that he never realized it spelt out his name, just looked like a gold stripe. ...but it gives something for people who are desperate to bash Modi...a straw. A cousin of mine bought a t-shirt in Hong Kong which had black stripes, only after she wore it several times, someone noticed the stripes were actually made of chinese characters and when she made "suitable enquiries" it turned out the stripes were actually saying something pretty rude. Chinese sense of humour I guess She ended up throwing the t-shirt away. Stuff happens.

Congress is stooping lower day by day!!..Isnt it Congress leader who claimed Anna hazar as the corrupt person, later on sending an public apology.
More over, it was never Modi who brought him being chai wala as a topic for discussion. It was Congress who before the election publizied it thinking it would act as brownie points to them, but later on back fired.

Indians are deflecting this criticism of Modi. It shows us the great schism that exists between us muslims and hindus in Indian occupied regions. Muslims have overwhelmingly voted for Congress and in Delhi for AAP due to Gujju riots being initiated by Modi sarkar.

It is unfortunate that our vote counts for nothing. I have to salute Jinnah-he knew many years later muslims would be here-promises of equality but in a state worse than CAR muslims. No rights, no empowerment with military and government jobs going to others... Jinnah saved Pakistan and made sure there was a safe haven for our people to escape to. This land gave us muslims of Lucknow a new life. For it is my life.
