What's new

NA bars Hindu lawmaker from presenting bill seeking ban on alcohol

In medicine, we view alcohol as a drug as it leads to disease and pathology. It is much more dangerous than cannabis, qat, and other recognized drugs.

It is not only the leading cause of liver failure, a major cause of hepatitis, but also leading cause of down's syndrome through fetal alcohol syndrome.
What Dose of Alcohol consumption is more harmful to Human Body as compared to Opioids? end of the day it is all down to Dosage and Dose Effect. In my earlier post I have already mentioned that People / villagers have died from consumption of Alcohol, that was poorly brewed

Oh I forgot to mention that each have Acute and Chronic effects on body so would like to elaborate on that too, which is more toxic to human body with more acute and chronic effect

.
Am against this bill and in favor of legalizing the sale of alcoho.....people are dying from drinking low quality brewed poisonous alcohol.when legalised atleast it will be regulated
Not to forget corruption. The Law is a joke. A Harsh reality is that major consumer of Alcohol in Pakistan are Muslims.
We need to accept reality and address issue like drunk driving and other issues like that instead of more Ban which mean more corruption and more imported smuggled items.
i suggest you educate yourself on Alcohol & Drugs so you are able to differentiate between the both, how both agents act on one's body, while you are at it, give Synergistic effect of combing Drug and Alcohol a read too
Sir the funny part is people support BAN calling it bad for health or Against Islam.
But they forget cigarette is more harmful & Soft drink is also not good for health.

This Haram thing not OK but other Haram things are OK like Corruption, movies & .........
It will be interesting to note that how many Pakistani here oppose this haram thing but are first to check PAKISTANI ACTRESSES/MODEL Thread.

I am in favor k jiss ko peena hai vo piye jiss nahien peena woh na piye….. Govt will get huge taxes in billions if they legalize it ….example is Dubai....they making billions USD...

Mujra b hota hai, piya b jata hai but Govt get nothing from it only local thana in charge warm his pockets...that all.

Yeh meh hai maghas k keh nahien hai…. @Imran Khan

Yes, what about barkat?

. .
Apparently Rakesh Kumar has moved this same bill twice in the past.

Its appearing in similar threads lists. His argument seems to be that "the sale of alcohol in name of minorities' religion is defaming".

2014
Ramesh went on to call for either a complete ban on the business of alcohol in Pakistan or that it should be open for all, irrespective of religion.

2016
The lawmaker was of the view that the use of alcohol in the name of non-Muslims is blasphemy and one of the major causes for the non-Muslims to face defamation, agony, insult, and discrimination.

.
It is very shameful for us as now nonMuslims are implementing Islamic principles more than so called Muslims who are actually munafiqs and now I understand why munafiq is worst than nonMuslims this is reason Muslims are weak these days and nonMuslims are leading world in every field

.
He is right why non muslims are allowed based on religion? just to serve alcohol to muslims as a mid agent? that defaming and we should respect all religions as we are Pakistanis. BTW i rarely encounter any of my friends who dont consume alcohol and its part of daily beverage in our northern cold part.

.
More disgusting is the fact that my countrymen such as yourself make Islam the excuse to propose laws which stand directly in contrast to what Islamic law stands for. Islam fully respects the right of non-muslims to consume alcohol and does not allow any Muslim to enforce any prohibition upon them. So while you can have the Kalimah printed on your forehead, the same Allah (S.W.T) extolled in that Kalimah unquestionably protects the right of your Hindu neighbour to consume alcohol from you and whatever reasoning that you or I can concoct.

As far as the fallout from alcohol consumption is concerned, the state reserves the right to regulate its use as far as it does not infringe upon the individual's right to consume it, e.g. you cannot stop them from drinking but you can stop them from driving after drinking. The west has been doing this for years. Ironically, there is no actual regulation being enforced in Pakistan.
Before acting all smart you should know that the bill in question was proposed by a Hindu Law maker, so their is no question of Muslims stopping Hindu's from drinking.
Secondly Hinduism and Christianity both discourage the use of alcohol.
And the last point, for your kind information west did try to ban alcohol but it didn't turn out very well for them.
If you don't know then read about the Prohibition period in US from 1920-1933.

If you and people like you want alcohol to be available easily then do it openly and tell everybody we drink, stop drinking in the name of providing alcohol to non Muslims in Pakistan. That's what Ramesh Kumar said that under the garb of this law Muslims drink and we are the one's who are blamed.

.
Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri, however, barred the minister from presenting the bill after the majority of lawmakers, who were present at that time, voted against it.
L

wow. so that shows their real face... these bastards misuse the liquor licenses given to the minorities.. What a shame for these so called "Muslims" of PMLn
@django @Maarkhoor @Pan-Islamic-Pakistan @FalconStar
Truth
Kumar said unfortunately a number of people had obtained the permits for alcohol business in the name of Hindu religion, which was unacceptable.

An expert is of the view that the PTI legislator could get approved the bill from the NA easily by ensuring the presence of the members of the his party and allies as the Imran Khan-led party is in the majority.

because latter is addictive in nature and instantly kill you in any form, it has adverse acute and chronic effects the former doesn't......The Lateral can be used by Organized crime groups to generate revenue, you can grow canabis at the back of your house, all it needs is a lamp and shade, try brewing a Beer in your back yard......
to be honest I am going to stop responding to you because your posts have nothing productive in them nor do they support your argument in anyway.....the point of having this forum is not to rant but to contribute and participate in the discussion
btw just to add, try chugging down a keg of beer and see what happens, the worst outcome will be you can choke on your vomit or slur speech, try stacking on ecstasy and your heart will beat out of that chest of yours in no time.....hence across the globe you have restrictions on one while the other is sold with no remorse.....heck all Sauds visit Bahrain on weekends only to enjoy a blissful eve.....

Note : i have never consumed alcohol in my life nor plan on doing so, it is just that I have a common sense

Why alcohol is being sold in the name of any religion ........ in the first place? I don't think any of the religion makes it a duty for its followers to consume alcohol.

The problem of Pakistani society is that they made alcohol consumption a sign of Ayashi, status, liberalism, being modern, free and to prove they defy Islam etc etc.

No one can guarantee that regular consumption of alcohol and drinking is beneficial for health. It's an escape if you don't remain in your senses ........ and that is why Quran sort of prohibited drinking sharab / khamar.
Because sales are prohibited to Muslims...so people have to prove they arent hence becomes in the name of another religion...

Pakistani society seems to rush towards ill...Too much money that is not taxed leads to unnecessary ayeshi! Start proper taxing so no one has extra to waste on crap!

Then it will be taxed, sin taxed and then the poor people will again be drinking cheap alcohol and dying or rather becoming "shaheed" as per Qaim Ali Shah.

.
The ban is pointless as it would never stop the sale of Alcohol and instead make it worse by pushing people to moonshine and associated deaths.

This lawmaker is a complete Drama. Jumped ship from PmL(N) to PTi.
At least he managed to start a discussion and show how NA is not interested in it :enjoy:

That is the hypocrisy on part of Muslim legislators then. If a Non Muslim representative doesn't want it to be sold in his religion's name, it should be respected and the fault accepted.

Taxing Pakistanis would start when these so elected (ignorant) legislators present their true wealth to the state.
