This may be the testing of some new tech. on the missile.

Probably testing of MIRV Warheads. This may have been one of the Warheads.

dont think Ghauri can carry MIRV...
If it was shaheen then may be...
But i would be very glad if you were right

OTOH, Maybe you not be so glad after all; on second thoughts.
MIRV warheads are better off falling on enemy teritory, not on one's own. Is'nt that so?

HATF-V was last time tested on Dec21, 2010. The recent test is 10th test of this missile and for the first time such 'missile motor' or any other component has fallen on the ground during its journey to the target in Arabian sea...one can speculate that this time missile was tested on mid range or target was closer than its previous tests?

No Sir, it would be the first time when such an event has been noticed. Yes, that means the missile was tested at a reduced range.
The only thing I can come up with is that perhaps a new flight path was planned this time (other than the usual one) in which the populated areas went unaccounted for (somehow). OR there might have occurred a little problem.
None of the objects in the photos look like a missile motor, as they are long and tubular. If they are parts of the fallen motor, there should've been chunks of metal too, not only the Flight Control-related parts.

Does war heads have flight control system integrated? If not wont it make the warhead an easy target for ABMs .

Was the Pak army aware of the falling debris near villages? I mean they will be tracking the missile all the way to the target right. From the news it seems like Army came into the scene only after local authorities informed them.

No it was not.
The warhead/strike package is set to serrate from the main body in flight path. From there the Warhead will continue its approach toward the target and the main body will fall down. nothing to speculate here, it is all routine and part of planned flight path.

Your LRTRs are deployed to track the path of falling debris. Each and every moment in a missile's flight path is to be recorded and analysed. And thats why when India tested its Agni 5 , number of ships were deployed with radars into the seas. Some times the missile launches were postponed by DRDO due to non availability of tracking ships with radars. Same with satellite launches ISRO uses number of tracking stations which are in different countries.

was this a failure of planning that allowed missile parts to fall into habitable area or did the missile malfunction ???
